Got home today and fired up the stove with some Ash & Oak....Looked outside my window and saw Black Snow falling from the sky. Soon realized after seeing my stove at a quick 600F what was going on...Blowing out loose and very thin creosote from the upper part of my stack. In years past I got a little nervous at this..now...No big deal....

The schools would burn coal back when I was a kid.
Walking into the school yard during the winter-black snow was a common site!

Oh yeah. I remember that black snow.

EDIT: Don't eat yellow or black snow.

This isn't one of those stories where you had to walk 5 miles in the snow and share a pair of shoes with your brother, uphill both ways to and from school is it ?

Ha! My dad walked the power lines. The snow sometimes was even higher but he liked practicing his high wire skills. If he fell, it was only about a foot from the snow. Yes, was uphill too...

If your house was to the West of the school, it was up hill both ways, if it was to the East, it was down hill both ways....
