Stacked some white oak, black locust and hackberry fore da snow flies here. Dey a sayin' up ta 6"+. Dat ain't much fer some o' you folks, but hits ah desaster fer us! Topped one rack with white oak. You can see the color difference between the fresh split and the older wood. The second rack is all white oak except for the last couple of rows which are black locust. The last is hackberry.
It could be worse. We're getting nothing here. We might see some flurries. Grrrr. 2-3" would sure make it easy for me to cut and haul wood.
Yeah, throw a tarp over a little section of that in case you need to grab any of it before that 6"+ has a chance to melt away completely.
Nope. It's green as green can be. I won't burn it before the winter of 2024. I don't top cover, just too much wood. About a month before burn season begins I bring about 1.5 cord to the house and rack it on the covered porch where it gets lots of wind and sun. That as close to top cover most of my wood ever sees.
I'm thinking the weather predictors missed their mark with this one. We have a couple of inches and it stopped. Looks like some heavy rain moving in by noon or so. They said earlier that the rain would stay well south of the river. Imagine that, the weather people wrong!
Amazing how wrong they get it that's why I check the radar myself. I work outside so knowing the weather gets to be a job.
