So much for that. 14 feet to the splitting maul. 14 x 4 x 1.3 = 72.8 72.8 / 128 = .569 so, almost about 2/3 cord certainly shy of 3/4
Heaving firewood over my back fence to a friend who will cover for me when I take a trip to the keys ... pretty strapped but you can't take it with you...how bout a scavenger fund? ..
Decent day this morning, so ahead of this weekend's forecasted storm, I cut up a collection of small stuff. After a few reloads - I'll use that in the morning on top of overnight coals to get the stove back up to temps.
We started on this group of oak and hickory this morning, almost got the trailer loaded. Our old splitter must have wanted the day off, wouldn't crank. The new one did just fine, though.
Got all the oak and hickory CSS on this lot. Only thing left is a little pecan, it's the green looking logs on top of the pile, we'll CSS and take it to mom's house. This is the first time we stacked on the plastic pallets, I started it out and my hunny did most of the rest, I think she did a good job cribbing the ends, not something we usually do. Probably won't be there long, folks are calling.... It's about 7 1/2' square and probably 24-26" high, with the uglies thrown in the middle, most hickory with about 6 rounds of oak mixed in.
