Been up since 3 A.M so thought why not

So I baked some good old oatmeal raisin cookies. Nothing starts the day out like hot cookies and ice cold milk!

Our youngest Gdaughter loves to bake, and every time she comes to visit, I swear I gain 5 lbs.
Those are one of my favorites, but good old chocolate chip with walnuts are the best......IMHO
On the other hand, I'm not sure I've ever had a bad cookie. Don't forget, once you take the first bite, all the rest of the calories fall out.

 

I love those cookies. Yours looks delicious. Only I would dunk in coffee. I haven't had milk to drink since I was a kid. Would like to cook some cookies, but that will have to wait until I get the oven cleaned from some turkey fat that over spilled.

I used to make these when i was in the 7th grade, i'd take them to school in my folder. We had to share a double desk, my desk person was a girl. She really looked forward to my cookies, lol. So, 50 yrs later i called her, during our conversation she said, i have a personal question to ask. I told her , go ahead, she said, are you a millionaire? I said, no, but, i'm rich in a lot of ways, and laughed, why do you ask. She told me every time she heard of Famous Amos's cookies, she thought it might be me, lol.

 

So far this week, been up at 3:30...5:00....5:10.....5:00 but didn't get to baking any cookies. Only thing made was a pot of coffee each morning!

You'd think that after being retired almost two years, I'd sleep a little later.

 

Don't they look good.. Now I need to ask my wife to make some.

 

I am a lark not an owl, and still working, but I find I get up even earlier on my days off because I am too excited to get out doing something like fishing, gardening, hunting or just walking around outside. I typically wake up after 5-6 hours, or even less, ready to go. Sometime I wake up and hope that it is at least 3:30 so I can get up! I usually do my firewood activities in the afternoons and into the evening...help me sleep good for as much as I can sleep anyways. I love a good nap thrown in for sure.

 

Awoke at 3:42 Tues. morning, and 5 this morning. WTH is going on anyway. Some sort of break in the fabric of the universe, no doubt.
At least there's coffee (or in Horkn 's case, Da Dew).

 

yooperdave I retired back in 2011 and it has been only the past year where I have been able to sleep in a little bit but I still find myself getting up early once in awhile. Takes time to realize all your days are Saturday

IF i go to bed by 10-10:30 i'll wake up again around 1-2, then again at maybe 3 or a little later, i'm a pretty light sleeper and when i'm awake, i'm WIDE awake. So, any thing over about 4.5 hrs sleep for me is great, and i'm ready to go the second i wake up. I've been retired for 7 yrs last october, and i'm 71 heading to 72. I'm used to sleeping lightly, i working on roads, plowing and sanding for 25 yrs. Many times i'd wake the boss up and say, ''have you looked outside lately'', meaning, there's a lot of snow out there, ha,ha,ha. Or it would be frozen solid and needed sanding, So, sleeping short hours is or has been a way of life for me. I enjoy getting up in the dark, going out with the dog, and just watching the night, to day sky, show itself, counting the falling stars, watching the night sky full of jets, satellites , its neat to say the least. And, yeah, i'd take an occasional plate of freshly baked cookies to work. Got a message today, ''were out on such and such road waiting for some cookies, ha,ha,the party's over boys, but, maybe some day, you never know, lol

 

See...you were awake so that you could make cookies for the boys!

 

There’s a 3 am? I’ve heard of it but never seen it, well not since college!

 

I worked for UPS loading package cars for over 3 years during graduate school. That job started at $9.50 an hour with full health coverage in 1987. Nowadays it still pays the same wage. Adjusted for inflation it would have pay a bit over $19 to be equivalent. I don't think health care is included right off the bat anymore for part-timers either.

My shift usually started at 3:30. Since that time I cannot sleep past 5:30 no matter what time I go to bed.
