Hey guys/gals We just bought our new home in August, it came complete with 2 wood burning fireplaces, a supplemental wood burning furnace and a PE Summit stove. Our main source of heat is propane. The pervious HO needed a backup to the backup. We use the PE daily. We are new to the wood heat game and we can see the advantages. I am currently working on the next few years of wood. This year we are stuck with buying "dry wood". It has definitely been an eye opener. When I tell someone that I will be checking the moisture content of their load before I accept it, you cannot believe how many people will hang up on me... Anyway thanks for the content. I am learning a ton. I have cleaned the chimney for the stove twice in the last 4 months just to make sure I'm doing it right. I have contacted a chimney company to inspect the rest of my stuff just to make sure its correct. I'm in the process of finding a company in the Minneapolis metro that can help me with sourcing parts (gaskets) for my PE. Here is a pic of the start of or wood pile, lets see if I did it right!
Looks like you got a gooder start in the old wood pile Paul Booth ! Welcome to the club and glad to have ya!
Hey Paul Paul Booth , welcome aboard. Once you get through this winter, don't worry so much about getting DRY wood. Make it dry yourself. Looks like you're well on your way already. Here's a link to PE's page for the Summit...Pacific Energy :: Summit Hit the "support" tab and put in your zip code for someone local (maybe).
welcome, if you didnt take a look at the Resources | Firewood Hoarders Clubsection there are some nice information there (thanks again to whoever told me to check that section when i joined)
Welcome Paul Booth your gonna love it here. This is a great site. I spend way more time than is probably healthy browsing/drooling over other members wood piles. Great first post. We love pics
Welcome northeastern neighbor. You got a lot better start than I did when I started heating with wood, and it looks like you got a lot more“heat” growing in your pics. I learned most of what I know about heating with wood and chainsaws from the very helpful FHC!
Looks like a great place to make firewood. You’ve got some heavy duty equipment. I’m impressed just looking at the size of the rounds. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Welcome to the club, Paul Booth ! I think you're gonna like it here! Looks like you're getting a good start.
Welcome To FHC Paul Booth .... ... Looks like your on a quick road to learning. Get some of that wood set up correctly (sun & wind are your friends), and next year you wont have to get those hang ups....
Welcome Paul Booth. Looks like you have a much better than average start! I think you’ll enjoy your time here. Best place to learn about proper wood burning techniques from the friendliest bunch on the internet.
Welcome Paul Booth , you’re gonna like it here, I guarantee it-We like pics, beer and dogs and you appear well on your way. Awesome folks here eager to lend advice and often a hand. Nice to meet you
Thanks guys this looks like a fun place to hang out. This was the ash tree we took down this weekend. The previous HO used it as target practice. We left the first 8' still standing due to all the lead and metal in it.
