Church this morning at 9AM then home to take down decorations and cleaning. When our son gets back from his National Guard drill we plan on watching the late game with some beer and pickled fish. I am making some pesto chicken with wild rice and carrot sides for dinner.

I know what you guys mean about the weight gain around the holidays. I never had to worry about that type of thing until I turned 50. My goal is is hold the line at size 38 jeans. I have been stabile at my average yearly weight now for about 10 years.

When I was a boy I remember my father grabbing few inches of his stomach, smiling and saying, "see this boys, once you get it, you will never lose it." I guess he was right as 34" jeans are probably never coming back! He was probably about my age now at the time.

I took my daughter out for some pictures today at a local historic farm that dates from the mid 1600's. There was a brisk wind, but around 40 degrees, so it was not too bad. It was pretty muddy along the field edges, and we stayed around the Manor house. The farm is 230 acres, with the grounds open year round.

I spent a few hours finishing some trim work on the house. Basement cleaning next.

Chore list done (well almost), beer, pretzels, a fire in the stove and watching the football game (even if it is the Bears)... life is good. :)

I half to admit the firewood is not so dry this year. I cleaned the chimney this fall and did it again yesterday morning before work. There was about a quart of power in the chimney and the stove pipe had quite a bit in it also. Seems to draw better now. Been wondering how bad it was because of the darn wood Im using. I had picked up some new firebrick a while ago and put them in. Out of 12 old ones 1 wasn't broke. Didn't see any cracks in the firebox. I need new grates but its not going to happen now. I did flip them over. I was told pictures are fine so here are some.

Well, a busy day here. Took Christmas tree down and the decorations. Made soup, campinspecter did laundry and loaded the power washer into the back of the truck. He is going to clean sidewalks at Mom's tomorrow while I take a short course in Kwak'wala - a First Nations language. I will probably only learn a few words. Tuesday it is back to the regular scheduled work program.

People were talking about football times. First Game started here at 10:00 AM which we watched the last quarter of it. Now campinspecter is watching the Bears game while I get some FHC surfing in - no really I am supposed to be doing book work. Yea, right.

I have some sewing to catch up on as well. I haven't solved the WiFi problem in the sewing room so it is pretty quiet down there. I put in a booster but I think there are too many copper heating pipes running through the walls and it blocks the signal.

Christmas goodies are definitely showing up on me so we have been hitting the walking trail again this month. Been a while since we did it. I sure enjoy it when I push myself to get out and do it.

Inside and outside decorations are kaput! Just putting the rest of them back into storage now.

I think I may have picked up a little bit of a cold yesterday....throat is raw, voice is lower, body has slight chills.....:picard:

Hang in there yooperdave...mind over matter, fluids, advil and keep on moving, then get some good sleep.

Hey, speaking of yooper culture...love the "second week of deer camp" song/parody by Da Yoopers.
