Looking at getting one. ... Been searching for the last two weeks... I found several that I like, but the suction issue keeps popping up. Is it really that big of deal or is it just that it needs to be redone periodically? The base that I found is going to be metal that goes in the center dash cubby hole. I’ll either buy it or weld one up. Pretty neat design. Any experience with those dash mounted units?
We have one of the beanbag holders and like it. I've heard a couple folks complain that they don't hold their place but I've never had that problem. Maybe they drive a bit different than I do. lol
I have a suction cup one. It works great. I have had to re do the suction like 3 times in 4 years. I'll be going to one with wireless charging shortly.
Those work well, but of you have wireless charging, then that's a no bueno. I'd you have no wireless charging, then it's less of an issue.

Mine is almost identical to this one. My new phone is a 6.4" screen phone and barely fits in the holder with the case. But it still works. I'll probably put this one in my boat when I get the wireless charging one.
Just bought my wife a new cell phone and this for xmas. We love it, so simple to use and works great! Only negative is it can block the vent depending on the vent size or the orientation. But overall works great!
You can. It's just if you have wireless charging, the metal on the back under the case will block the wireless charging.
That's why all wireless charging capable offices don't have metal backs, but rather typically glass. The wireless charging is amazing. Once you get a phone that has that it's so simple. Your phones USB( c ) or lightning port will be less likely to fail prematurely. Plus, on a phone like mine, it can wirelessly charge at 10 volts, whereas the factory quick wired charger charges at 5 volts.
Well I finally pulled the trigger on one. I’ll update tomorrow. But I built the base for where it’ll sit this afternoon, now I got to wait for the paint to dry. I wasn’t happy mounting location, especially being on the dash. I found one on the net that fit in the pocket of the center console. It started out as a rusty flat plate of metal... Then got transformed into this.
