    That stack looks almost edible.

For sure it might be good to introduce your wife and mine. Perhaps mine could learn how to stack wood...but I have doubts. Any more I just tell her I'll chop an arm off if I see her trying to stack wood.

That looks real to what I hear people up here call hem-fir. Have I been lied to the whole time:picard:

Hi Bran, The only hem-fir I know of is a lumber classification containing Hemlock and Fir grade #2 or better. Standard house building construction materials. I have never heard it applied to firewood. As I understand it, Cedar Deodar is a tree once indigenous to India that was brought to the US as an ornamental. It is very fast growing, can get quite large (150 ft) and is used in India as a building lumber. The wood has wide growth rings and can be very fibrous. Many times you must cycle the splitter the whole stroke to sever all the fibers. The limbs seem much denser than the main trunk. It seasons lighter in weight than fir, starts readily, burns about like one of the less dense Firs. It also pops a bit and leaves more ash than Fir. It could easily be passed off as "other than old growth" Fir. If it is free and close to the road then grab it, otherwise, use the room in your wood shed for more BTU dense woods. My sister will take some of this wood for her fire pit. I can use the rest or maybe sell it if I run into some more Madrone or Locust and need the room. If I do sell it, maybe I'll list it in Craig's List as "Red Hot Hem-Fir Firewood"!

I showed your posts to the Wif and she got a kick out of them. I always have thought she was purty as a spotted pony! She did hint that possibly we need our eyes checked! She is never slacking when there is work to be done!

I stacked the corners, we both stacked the centers. She is not the most artful stacker but is a very willing and hard worker. My Best Friend!

Ha! One of the things I kept hammering into my sons was to not just marry a pretty woman. Cute most times wears off. Marry someone who can also be your best friend. So far it has worked for me as we'll celebrate #57 next summer.

    So true. So true.

I hope people with daughters tell them that cute is super but doesn't last forever. Just because they are cute does not mean they should forego a good education to get into some field that will provide for them.
