Wood ID #3! Whats this oddball?

    Found an oddball round in my pile, split it, and can't figure out what she is!
    Any idea's?

    Looks like black walnut for sure. Just one of those in the pile?

    Well, if it is indeed Walnut, then there was much more of it, but the rest of it looked quite different. the bark on the rest of it looked much rougher/tougher, more like a pine type bark. That is why I thought this might be something different... but it did have a similar "purple" tint to the dark wood. Also, the rest of it did not have as much defined light wood around the outside.

    I don't think there is any North American wood that is anywhere near as dark as Black Walnut.
