Whoa! 16 below air temperature in Presque Isle this morning, -20 just up the road in Caribou at the in-laws place. Have a safe warm trip!
Since the plane had issues, we had to fly back with the landing gear down, at 140 knots, at least it was a clear day and the view from 5,000 ft was awesome . the dormant crater of Mt Katahdin We were low enough we had to go around the mountain Skowhegan Oxford Mt Washington
Got back and worked a full day, then enjoyed the company Christmas party with Mrs rowerwet that perfect gift for the squirrel lover in your family, one of my coworkers got it for her mother. Monday, back to the big wood Halved Quartered Split loaded Racked This puts me at 10.33 cords stacked Plus another third we're currently burning . That carefully stacked trailer load was exactly 1/3 cord
So Tuesday I ended up flying over to Syracuse New York, turned into a two night stay. The first day I figured out that the parts I brought weren't what I needed. Wednesday I spent most of the day troubleshooting the problem, then they finally got the part I needed to me at 9 pm. Got it all fixed by 2 AM Thursday. Then I was rudely awakened at 6 am for my flight back to Manchester. Rt 90, the way I would have driven if I'd been allowed to sleep. Back to a snowless Manchester airport Spent about half the day asleep. Saturday I drove to Hyannis airport to do an inspection on another aircraft Fuel barge in the cape cod canal View towards cape cod bay on the way home. Sunday we finished burning our first cord of wood which is actually good because I want to rebuild the rack it was holding down using my current design, in a different direction , and bigger
interesting sight at work. The aircraft is owned by a company in Portsmouth, NH. They donated a plane load of food to some charity for Christmas. The governor is making some speech at the forward side of the door. It probably cost more to fly it there than the whole load of food cost, the things they'll do for a press conference . Just built this rack last night, to hold this pile of wood, I hope ... We've already burned a cord plus, Just started on this cord on Tuesday. I've got to split the wood blocking this cord quickly now . And clear/split everything blocking this cord . Four more cords stacked here, just have to stack the splits pile so we can get to them.
these three bring my total stacked up to 10. This is my current "Back log" which also doesn't include the big pile I still have to clear from my friends yard...
My youngest daughter turned 8 yesterday, my mom found this kayaking set at target that fits the American girl dolls
Christmas at my parents on Saturday. They never got the tree up due to my dad being in the hospital, so instead of a tree, they used the laser projector I gave them last year to decorate the wall. I think he wants to be a mechanic like me, he decided that he had to assemble the girls doll bunk bed, instrad of me. my Christmas shirt drove to PA Christmas eve, noticed this cool suspension bridge on the way to a family get together, Would you cross It? God's country, central PA. My wife grew up here, I wouldn't think twice about moving here if I had the chance .
This has become the heart of Mennonite country, they started moving in and buying up the land back in the 70s as land prices in Lancaster county got too high. This is an old order Mennonite farm, they travel in a horse drawn buggy, and have modern tractors with steel wheels, only the trailers have pneumatic tires. The barn has electricity and phone for the milking, but not the house. There are also modern Mennonites in the area, they have cars and electricity, and are great neighbors. Local auto body shop has this cool old tow truck out front. Interesting winch drive mechanism It's actually driven by a belt from below the bed If this truck could talk, imagine the stories...
They also have a lightning, they load them both on a flatbed trailer for parades Neighbors Harley Davidson truck, with studio apartment... My father in law bought a generator and a little house for it. Sadly he had the flu, so we came home the day after Christmas. The kids were excited to see what was in their socks. My grandmother knit these for the whole family , she couldn't finish my son's because of her health, so my sister took over and made the last two for us, and her own family . A guy in the church and his friend helped themselves to my splitter and pile of rounds, and left me with an even bigger pile of splits, the nerve of some people !
Took advantage of the frozen ground and nice weather to put the tax exemptions to work Filling the newest firewood rack Eventually got my son to work on it also Another cord and 2/3 stacked I triple dog dare ya! Scene in the front yard of a nearby house. Suddenly my split pile has shrunk
solar security light from HF for seeing the firewood at night Added some marks to my splitter. The longer pair are 18", my stove max of N-S LOADING The short one is 12"with, for my friend with the tiny European around e.
