It was a beautiful Missouri day today so I decided to pay a little down on my 2020 heating bill. I have been cutting a trail thru my woods and stacking the wood where it fell. Today was a good day to start hauling it to the splitter and get it split. It was some red and white oak, a little hickory and a small amount of cherry.

Good for you take advantage of the weather while you can. Gotta make hay while the sun shines!

Looking good down there, Brad M! That will toast your toes just fine in a couple years.

Is that plastic-wrapped pallet an experiment? Reduce drying time, like a kiln?

Nice set up. I remember when I bought my quad and wondering if it would get much use. I can’t imagine not having it now. Makes for a good wood hauler.

yes! Good eye! The backstory is that I moved here last January from Wisconsin and the previous owner only left rotted wood so I’ve struggled to get wood seasoned. I left the guy that bought my old place about 3 1/2 years worth of GOOD wood. I stacked and wrapped that about mid-October and I wanted to see how much drying it did by around April or May. It was 37-40% when I wrapped. I’ve always liked the idea of the redneck kiln. We get some bright sunny days here during the winter and I wanted to see if I could take advantage of them. It’ll be nice to eventually get 3yrs ahead again and not worry about it anymore.

What did you do with the rotted wood? We just move into our new home and they left us with STACKS of rotted wood, I'm struggling with what to do with all of it.
