After this long winter I'm grabbing more of this smaller stuff, I picked up some hardhack (American Hophornbeam) from the trail clearing after the ice storm.

The smaller almost-kindling is useful too. Good for fillers and middle layer of startup loads. No sense in leaving it behind. It dries out faster than fatties do too.

Yeah man, I really like it, It's a cool little saw, CS-346 paid 60 bucks for it, all I did was clean air filter, put in fresh gas n tuned it, sweet little bugger 7.5lbs. Didn't run so good one time when I put oil in the gas hole
How could a fella beat that ? Cant beat the weight . Mine weighs about the same...and its a pleasure to run....and you can do so all day !!!
Hophornbeam= good wood. I have 60 acres loaded with blue beech. Hornbeam. Lots of the branchy stuff I have cut to rot as its a weed tree but some groves of the straight stuff goes in the wood pile. Neighbors property next to mine is loaded with it. I have cut some out for firewood and foodplot clearings but haven't even scratched the surface as far as firewood quantity. Nice thing about it is high BTU wood and no splitting. Lifetime supply of firewood .
