Oh see, that is where you have it wrong. It isn't that they come out with the right answer at all - that is too judgemental. Give them an A for showing up and extra credit for using the favored method. The "correct" answer is not the goal at all :picard:

Caffeine and breakfast of scrambled eggs and toast in. Time to get out working on the trails again. It’s going to be chilly out there at 8.:)

If your day is similar to ours was yesterday, it'll be nice this afternoon! Just have an extra cup this morning.

We went to a local school's Christmas program last evening. Singing, band playing, the normal Christmas program stuff.

She must have seen me "re-positioning" on the bleacher seats and after close to an hour of sitting on those boards, she announced we can leave now. Knees, hips, the ever present low back, and neck said it was time to go about 1/2 hour ago. (If I could stand up and move a bit, I could have made it longer, but......)

It was nice listening to the young ones singing out their songs! Great time of year for them.

Good job, kids! If you've got the chance, make the effort to attend one!

I wouldn't be able to count either if that's the way they taught me math back in the day! :bug:

I do believe I might very well fail with today's math, although I was always the top student in school with math and algebra.

    bogieb has it right!

I've told the story before about how my son was struggling in algebra. I could not understand what he was doing when trying to solve a simple problem. I asked him why he didn't do it this way (the way I was taught)? His answer? "Wow Dad. That really makes it easy!" End result; he failed. Not because the answer was wrong but because he did not solve it the "right" way. Okay...

Also my wife used to hire school girls and not one knew how to make change. Disgusting. But the school officials say they just need more money and that is why grades are down. Give us more and we'll do better...

One hour and fifteen minutes done in the woods. Making progress. Time for a break. I’m back at the house with the wheeler pulled in the heated garage and I’m having my second dose of caffeine in the form of a can of Code Red Mountain Dew. Time to sit for 15 minutes. Life is good. :)

went through the same thing with my 2 sons. After showing them what I was taught they would do a problem that way and then reverse solve the new way. For whatever reason that put both of them way ahead of there classmates.

Biggest problem with math right now in my opinion, is they went away from the Rout system. Where you just memorized the basics times tables Etc. Without that base, math becomes intrinsically more difficult.

I see it's a dairy queen moving in with the new gas station......I was figuring for sure they'd be putting access in from both roads, but there's a lot room for something else on that corner if they cover over that brook.

That oil shop is coming along too.... that's gonna make a noisy neighbor of itself.

I had the kitchen to myself this morning so I made a batch of krumkake. Only took 2 hours from start to finish and I was making two at a time. I had to use the correct apron (PPE) for this job:thumbs:

Those look great. I really like the wood cones.

I happened upon my grandmother's cooker a few weeks ago. She made mostly pizzelle's but had the recipe for krumkakes, cannolis, lace tarts, etc inside it. The cooker must be from the 1950's.

Had a meeting on a project in a local Indian Reservation. Always feel drained working there. True squalor. Sad.

But when I was leaving the area saw this beautiful sunset.

Both Peaches (our new pup) and I could see our breath on the way to bus stop today. Unusual, even in much colder temps we don't usually see it. Does't happen very often here, a bit more in Colorado but here is kinda rare. And holy cow, it felt so much colder than usual at 31*

Those wood cones were turned from cherry burl. Nice to have talented friends. Here is a better pic of them.

Throat feels like I swallowed a bag of broken glass. Putting some honey lemon bourbon mix on it and heading for bed.

1 day of work left for the year.

Thanks, glad you liked it. The hills along the Missouri River make for some great scenery.
