There are only a couple of cars nowadays that would actually fit in my garage, and the Prius is one of them (besides the excellent mileage - which is a requirement). I don't think I can afford new since I still have my truck payment (just got that 6 months ago and keeping it). Actually, I "can" afford new, just not sure I want that high a payment - you never know what can happen in the future and I like to hedge against the worst. BUT, I'll have to check this out as it could get me closer to thinking new - thanks for the info!

Read on the net that they(yota) are coming out with an all wheel drive Prius next year.

New cars are certainly lovely, buttttttttttttttttttt...there are the things B spoke of for sure.

We had a 2017 Mercedes 300 C Class last year on a lease.

All the bells and whistles, all wheel drive.

    Absolutely a sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet ride.

Living out here in the sticks (READ THIS AS ROUGH NASTY GRAVEL ROADS AND MUD)
After 10 months It became very clear that by lease end the car was gonna be pretty beat.

No matter how careful you are, the other clowns still drive by and toss rocks and mud on your pretty car.

We transferred the lease to a city kitty realtor that needed a spiffy ride to impress his clients.

We found a fairly nice 2007 Avalanche 4x4

    ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT

Its quite happy sitting in the muddy driveway.. :picard:

And the payments were much easier on the budget.

Hmm, new car buying is shelved for now. Just realized that my future employer has a pricing agreement with several car makers. Will have to see how that looks once I start. Then I can make a semi-intelligent decision between new and used as well as brand/model.

At the end of the day cold hard financial facts triumph over emotion when car shopping. You also sleep better at night knowing you made a good choice and don’t have a sword over your head.

Well, they haven't shoved me out the door yet, but plenty of time this week to throw a surprise exit "party". ;)
