It should be this simple...and it would be, if everybody was like you, because you say what you mean, and mean what you say...but many don't anymore.
They lie about if they are ready to buy or not. They lie about if they can make a purchase decision without their spouse there. They lie about if they are planning a cash or a credit purchase, about their credit rating, their income level, if they have a trade or not, how nice (or not nice, as the case may be) their trade-in is, they lie about how much cash they have to put as down payment...on and on and on and on! Every time you think you've heard it all...
Like I've said before, toward the end I felt like if a "customers" lips were moving, they were lying to me...the job kinda changes you, because I naturally tend to just trust people...how I was raised.
The one that made my final decision for me to leave the Ford dealership...this really nice local teacher lady (2 miles down the road) comes in looking for a new Windstar...I spent hours and hours showing her what we had, and then spec-ing out and pricing one to custom order...because she wanted exactly what she wanted, no compromise!
She said her husband told her to go get whatever she wanted...but when we were through, she said she needed to go talk to her husband (after telling me he told her to just go get whatever she wanted!) she said she would be right back. Didn't hear from her for a few days, so I called her...she tells me her husband said that the price was too high and they were gonna go shopping. (keep in mind, most dealers will give a better price on something sitting on their lot, rather than ordering one)
Again, didn't hear from her for a bit...until she shows up in a new van...very much like the ones we had in stock. :hair:
Proceeds to apologize to me and says her husband said that nothing else mattered, that they were buying on best price only...and the place they bought from beat our ("non stock" custom order) price by $300...never even gave me a chance to give her a price on an in stock unit! (because it wasn't "exactly" what she wanted...but they didn't end up buying "exactly" what she wanted anyways!)
They just ran into a high pressure salesperson at the other dealership, but since all the decision making parties were there, (mainly the husband as it turns out) the other place made a sale...so much for wanting to do business with the neighborhood dealer that they had dealt with happily for years prior! Not very nice of me, but I kinda thought it was funny when I heard through the grapevine that they were having trouble with the other dealer later on
And another common lie that salespeople hear..."you get me this price I want today, I will be your best customer forever more"...so you do, and they say they love the service you give them...but come time to buy again, they run off to the first place that advertises some gimmick to get them in the door.
Keep in mind here...I wasted all that time with her, this is time I could have spent with actual paying customers (this is generally a commission only job) so by lying about her ability to make a decision on her own, she took income from me and my family.
This is but one story...and not even the most flagrant of lies...just the "straw that broke the camels back" for me.
Like I said, not a profession I'll revisit...and I warn anybody else that I hear of that is considering going into it that job, it is dog eat dog...and the other dog is not necessarily the other dealers either!
My 2 cents...I'll shut up about it now...I'm sure most here don't want to hear my war stories regarding this.

We have a Woodstock IS. Load it up and gets to cat range. Engage cat, damper down. Chugging along and then a flair. As Holly is heading to the kitchen she throws the stove dirty looks. Now we do have the option of damper it down or up
Generally we open it up. Is that the best way to handle flairs.

I saw some pictures today of end grain wood flooring.

This may be a future project in a mudroom. It is not sanded to one level, but the high spots are taken down. This one is stained.

There were a few pictures of cuts of blocked firewood that looked really good too.

Thanks everybody, had a really good Bday yesterday :) I was a bit anxious thinking the band would call me up on stage. Well, It was WWW after announcing  He and the whole room sang Happy Birthday Yes I appreciated it, yes I am great at public speaking but mostly presentations and trainings, most of all YES, I was embarrassed, never had so many people singing to me, for me:emb:. Then, WWW took me over to the table where the appetizers were (mix up, supposed to all happen at 4:30, they messed up- seating ready at 4:30 but catering not til 6:00, so we all made a lot of trips to that table waiting for the buffet), there was a giant Birthday cake for me  My favorite cake and favorite frosting.

This is the longest the new puppy has been alone in the house (of course the two older dogs and new cat were home), I was satisfied to find only one pee spot with her loose in the house unsupervised.

Absolutely useless today recovering from overdoing it Sat, but no thanks to Sourwood I renewed my Ancestry.com account  . Haven't seen many new records but helped me out on a chair day.

That sounds like quite a bash! I'm glad you enjoyed the fuss, and had a day to recuperate after.

I'm not knowledgable on cat stoves, ran one for 6 months but that cat was fried before we bought the house. Previous non cat stoves I had air control only, so when we had a runaway fire from wind I would shut down the intake air. Canadian border VT do you know ? Idk if cats can fry.
