    Don't do it!

I'm telling ya, stay away! I've gained 6 1/2 lbs in a week because of that holiday baking! (and eating)

40 outside this morning, mid 40's today then we get back to more seasonal temps. I have not had a fire in the stove since Friday morning, boiler has run a little bit. Got up on the roof and ran the brush down the liner, nothing there but after I hauled the brush and rods up, just did it for good measure. Dropped the cat shield and had a small bit of fly ash and some ash piled between the shield and cat screen. Ready to rock & roll, bring on the cold and snow. Oh, toppped off the patio shed as well.

Temp dropped to more seasonal weather from the crazy wind warm up yesterday, sitting at -14 C feels -22 C or 6 F feels -7 F. Only supposed to warm up a few degrees today and hopefully back above seasonal tomorrow. Poplar in the stove same as always

Last few days been. Lows around 30 with highs in the low 40s. We do have some light fog hanging around.

Had Chaz's Xmas party last night. He loaded up the stove and was working on getting it into cat range. Well the taxi (,party = :coldone: = taxi) showed up and he had to tell them to come in the driveway for me. Well I headed out and he wasn't far behind me. We had a little opps. Half way there he realized he forgot to close the cat and damper it down. We got home to 86 and a nice bed of coals. As far as I was concerned it felt good. Now he was heated out. Oh yea I won a pair of work gloves

Got both vehicles hand washed in the driveway just to take advantage of the above freezing temps. They'll be clean for a day or so....

I for one am getting really tired of this danged fog. Seems every night gets foggy and sometimes it stays most of the day around here. Yesterday morning I had to make a detour because a road was blocked because of an accident. Black ice. Yes, freezing fog can cause some problems...

To find nice weather around here, we have to head north! I was quite a distance north yesterday and it was much warmer there than at home plus the sun was shinning brightly all day up there but none at home. It was also up to 10 degrees warmer to the north.

Yep, better here now though. Sun finally came out & 41F. Feels nice, I went out early & graded & organized my log yard, got everything ready to buck up & loaded another tote back full of Silver Maple. Gonna grill some steak soon.

You don't know how many times I've seriously considered that Rope . I may not be quite Backwoods Savage caliber, but I could probably manage just fine up there.

Well Rope and amateur cutter when we lived in the great north of MI we seriously considered moving to Alaska. Back then it would have been great, I think. Now, perhaps not as well as I have found as many do that as we age, the cold is not as kind to us. I used to love it and always loved the snow that sometimes goes with it. But Adam, you are great character; you can stand tall with anyone (well, sometimes you might need a stepladder. ).

Come on up, Alaska is a great place. Most of use have wondered why it took us so long to get here. Biggest regret I have is not coming to Alaska as a younger man. I am both happy for and a little jealous of my kids. My kids have been able to see and do things here in Alaska that most of the population will dream of and watch that TV show in amazement.

My family and I are lucky to be living the bucket list. My 7 year old love everything outdoors. In August ‘19 we will be going on our first Dall sheep hunt. At 47 sheep hunting is on my bucket list and he will be 8 and on his first sheep hunt.

    Hurry up....Alaska is amazing!
