We got to the high 40s today. I think it was about 47° at one point. If the rest of the winter would give us breaks like this it won’t be so bad.

Like many of you I’m trying to recover from a nasty cold that turned into bronchitis. Antibiotics, inhaler and steroids. I’m holding off on the steroids for now. Been almost two months with back to back respiratory issues. The grandkids bring me lots of new bugs from school when they visit.

Generous arn't they. Still remember when my own offspring brought the Mumps home- stayed at a motel for a week or more on advice of doctor - I've never had that bug.

Wow, that sounds pretty serious. Did you get pneumonia? I hope it lets up for you.

Interesting, I've been noticing the different times different cycles take on this new Kenmore are the same as my old Samsung frontloader that died last summer (1:11 for normal cycle and prewash). Similar cycle choices and a bit different buttons, but I have to wonder if it's the same engine/guts.... Also, we had to buy a new fridge a year or so ago, I saw the exact body/interior/shelves/controls in several different brands while cruising Black Friday last year. I sold commercial office furniture for a very long time, it was well known they were the same manufacturer with different "privately branded" names.

Stay warm and safe Woodwidow & campinspecter :) I am so sorry to hear about your dog last year. I apologize I did not see your post earlier. Rest in Peace darling doggie.

Similar weather here Midwinter , sun shining, no wind, weather station on my back porch said 50* (it's a bit protected from the wind and reads the nice temp on patio with sun reflection of 16' glass). Took Blackie out and combed him for a few minutes :) Woops, I throw all of them into a false shed every winter :emb:

    I
'm sorry to hear you too. WWW's had similar for months now. I'm under the impression our single digit humidity does not help.

I get supplier discount on at least a few brands of these, as well as other appliances. I hope to not have to use my discounts for as long as possible.

All you folks talking about Washers and Dryers. We have had front load Samsung pair for quite a few years now. Maybe 7 or 8? But have had issues with both of them. Our repair guy has been good. When we asked him what he would suggest for our next machines, something heavy duty/commercial, he said go with Speed Queen. A lot of farmers use them around here. Quality, made in USA. We may try them next.

Thanks! Not pneumonia, at least not yet. They said if I’m not getting better by Monday I need to get a chest X-ray.

Has he gone in yet? I had a bacterial infection in my lungs for months, finally went in to the Dr. I forget what he prescribed but it cleared it up.
Now trying a Symbicort inhaler to help out a bit more. Seems to be working a bit, I don't get winded like I used to doing some things.

We have forced air heat when not using the wood stove. I have a humidifier on the furnace, but every year it seems to blow the water valve, so it’s useless.

How you feeling today Al? I don’t like to take anything I don’t absolutely need either. But in this case, if you are not getting better by now, you may want to follow doctor’s orders on those steroids. They can help you to get better faster. If that is what doctor suggested.

Caffeine going in. Another trip to school in a little bit. Basketball games that are away this morning so I need to drop kid off so they can get on the bus with team. Mom will be going to these games because I’ll be working.

I’m hoping to get a few things done outside this morning before I get cleaned up and off to work. All you hoarders have a safe day and have some kind of fun.

Speed queen is the unanimous decision for best made washer and dryers. I'd strongly consider them for replacements

Gonna have to find something to do during the day.....maybe a ride down to the cottage??????

Ugh, I'm struggling with low 30s humidity in my house. I'd be a full time mouth breather in single digits.

They also cost a lot more. I'm not a fan of consumer reports for vehicles ( they clearly sometimes have no clue what they are talking about) but for appliances I think they provide useful information. CR send to like these speed queens, but it doesn't quite seen that the repairrrates are worth double the cost.

Then again, Speed Queen are made in Wisconsin. Alliance Laundry Systems had purchased a lot of parts/ machines from current and former employers of mine.
