This is the start of what my excavator guy is starting to give me.
Decent pile of cherry logs / branches.
I picked up 2 truck loads of oak around the 4th of July I'll get a picture of that in the next few days.
I use those blue/red pallets to stack my wood on. Now I just need it to quit raining for a week so I can get into the back yard to dump these.

Are those plastik pallets or just painted wood ones? mibe you should get some white ones so you can make a pattern with it :usa:.
    Good pile of wood anyway!

wood, they are called chep/peco pallets. pretty heavy duty, they last a little longer than the white stringer pallets.

I don't know why it isn't formatting correctly, it displays correctly on this end but keeps rotating when I upload.

my canon elf used to do that
rotating the pic 90 degrees, then back before sharing used to help and must have did something to the exif data but I never did figure out what, weird thing was it was not consistent. Don't remember now if it was just portrait pics or not.
At the time there was something in the exif data that was supposed to make right side up automatic and it obviously wasn't working all the time.

I like what I see In the Pines
Make them pallets last a little longer by laying down some bricks or pavers to set up on....

thank you, It is a 79. Hot and humid here, but now the rain has showed up.
Making it hard to get all my outside work done.
I have so many right now that they are disposable. The ones I'm swapping out this year lasted 4 years?
The blocks really hold up well, vs the stringer kind that just sink and fold over from rot.
I really just need to build a huge wood shed. Which is on hold for various reasons.

More like the fall hoard, this is what the excavator dropped this last week for me.
A lot of hickory, some oak and I think ash.
I think that is about 3 dumptruck loads, at least 2, sure looks bigger in person.
Guy is letting me use his logsplitter too, so I won't need to drag mine over here.
Some of those rounds diameters are huge.
Larger than my 18" bar but I'll bury it and make it work..
Love my 350, she ripped thru that hickory today.
Now the real fun begins, I have to wheelbarrow this all into my back 40 because the yard is
saturated. I'm sure the wheelbarrow is probably going to sink in some spots.

what a muddy mess, yard is completely trashed now and I still have a lot more to bring in.
I'd invest in a gravel drive to the back but I won't be here long enough to enjoy it.
I'm pretty sure that a lot of this is walnut and not as much hickory as I was told/believed.
I mistook the bark for mostly hickory but I believe it is actually black walnut.

I'm not seeing any walnut in that pic. Maple maybe?

Maybe but I thought maple bark was thinner, this stuff is pretty thick. I'm just guessing no leaves to go off of and not too great on bark ID.
Guy told me it was hickory but I'm not sure about that either, some if it is. I could smell it when cutting it up.

Might be possible there is some pignut hickory in there but for sure no walnut.

Well now I'm pretty curious to what I have exactly. I'll need to get some closeup bark shots and post for the more knowledgeable.

Here are some pics of the wood that was dropped off, now that I looked closer at some walnut,
think I don't have any of that.
Maybe some maple as suggested and I still think some hickory.
I think there was an ash in there with oak as well don't know if I took pics of those.

Disclaimer, I didn't cut this from the side you are seeing. I couldn't get a good pic from the other side I did cut and wasn't wanting to move that big boy more than needed.
I'm buying a 288 from a member here to help with these exceptions.

I see Cherry & Oak & what might be a Hickory. I also see you really enjoying a 288 in the big ones.

the first 2 pics are honey locust on top of hickory. the rest look like hickory. hickory bark is really tough. I had a piece of hickory bark at the cutting spot that was about 12' long and 12" wide. I ran it over with the skid loader a few hundred times over the course of the year that it laid on the dirt. hit the ends with the mower a few times. it was still solid as a rock. :startled:
