Mine is twisted on about 1/2".
So, Dave would position his in relation to the spring tip differently than I would. It's all in the details, eh?

Mines twisted on to where the coils goes from tight to opening up into the ball section.

I'm in your boat Marvin. Mine has been in the same spot. When it was new to me, I set it flush with the ash lip. But now I normally leave it about 1/4" out past once the stove is set and going.

I really like the pedestal. So glad I didn’t put the legs on!

I may have the legs that came with mine here someplace. I set it on the pedestal. Still running my Englander 30 many years later now. Heats the house like a champ. No complaints. Nothing has broken or failed on it burning for 6+ years now. Best thing I have ever bought for the house. I burn all types of wood in there, including: lodgepole pine, cedar, fir, doug fir, hemlock, larch, birch, cherry, plum, apple, madrone, red elm, black locust, white oak, red oak, red alder, black walnut and during the first and only year, some stinky cottonwood. I sold my old Earth Stove that came with this house in one hour after listing it on CraigsList for $200. Which paid for a large chunk of the Englander.
