Front loaders seem to fail more often than top loaders, but then again no washer or dryer lasts like the old ones.

Our pair are old, early 90's at newest, don't ruin clothes, and well built ( knock on wood) . I've had to only replace some $5 switch/ sensor of some sort on the gas dryer about 5 years back.

I know when they go, that the replacement units will not last as long.

I cant imagine why...they are much simpler...just a motor and a belt...no transmission. And the electronics are about the same on all of them anymore. We are still using late 90s Maytag Neptunes...now that a few bugs are worked out, they work great!

The old top loader that we used to wash muddy Carhartts at work would just shred 'em up, it finally died and they did replace it with a front loader then...so much better! The old one would tear up new Carhartts in one washing...and that's not easy to do!

I drilled 192 shelf pin holes tonight. Kreg jig for that is money well spent.

Must be getting cold out there...the baseboards are warming up.

The front loaders are suspended by a weak bearing in the back. When it fails, it takes out the drum. I had a front loader that the bearing failed after about 7-8 years. Replaced the washer with a Maytag I believe. 8 months in and they had to replace the drum. 7-8 months later it failed again, but now out of warranty. Replaced that with a Samsung and left it when we moved 2 years later.

New house has a top loader. It's been rough on the towels, and one of my comforters, but I'm glad to be away from a front loader. Unless theres some major design change, I doubt I'll ever go back.

No tower. We got shrimp cocktail, ahi tuna, scallops wrapped in bacon, and oysters. May have reordered all of that a second time before ordering dinner too.

It's funny, my brain is hungry, but my stomach is not. All I could manage yesterday were dry Cheerios and 2 scrambled eggs.

Caffeine and breakfast with my father this morning. A bunch of stuff to do today. Hopefully it warms up a bit. Just above zero out there.
