Well, I might still be able to haul a few logs out this afternoon. Finishing up on the cookies right now. Really late start today.

We have Samsung front end loaders, We really like them. I have them up on bases so it is easy to empty them. I can't stand long so I sit on a stool and do all the loading and unloading. I can fold much of it as it is unloaded. Front loaders use much less water, and they are wrung out better when they go into the drying so less drying time. I don't think it makes much difference what dryer you use. I buy a set when I get new machines because "the most important thing is that they match".

I read the reviews and errantly thought "I used a top loader for 35 years, can't be that bad". Yep, the new HE top loaders really do that stuff.
Thanks Larry :) I remember your advice on pelletheads. You told me so, just like dog bed :emb:

Got the boiler all cleaned out, fired back up, and ready for another month of burning. Pretty easy job, really.

Not sure what tonight's project is going to be.....got plenty of stuff on my list to choose from.

Is this cleaning out the ash? You have to let it go totally cold?

It was warm enough today that the house didn't call for heat so the fire was going to go out anyway...so I just turned it off and let it burn itself out.

Cleaning the ash of out the bottom chamber can be done hot. Takes maybe 2 minutes and only needs done every 3 or 4 weeks.

Cleaning the heat exchanger tubes is just a matter of moving a couple handles up and down...30 seconds every day or 2.

I had a pretty deep coal bed with some ash in the top chamber so I decided to clean that out as well....didn't really need it but since this is my first season burning with it I decided to clean it out and take a look. Everything was fine....had a tiny bit of creosote build-up in the back corners that I removed, but it really didn't need it.

I'm wondering if anyone else on the site here has had trouble with the settings on their refrigerators? Specifically, there must be a setting on just how fast food will dehydrate in the fridge?

99 made some buckeyes over the weekend. I have to say that just leaving them in the fridge causes them to dehydrate to the point that they actually disappear! Today, she made some seven layer bars and then some spritz cookies...........and after only an afternoon of being in the fridge, well.....yup! You guessed it! Those are disappearing too!

Anyone else running into this same problem this time of year?

Evening folks! Been a crazy busy week for me so far. Every company is trying to empty their maintenance budgets before they lose the cash this month, good for me, but busy as hell.

Took a customer and one of my now retired coworkers to the Boston Pops last night with the wives. We had a fantastic dinner beforehand, and now my wife understands why I love high end steak houses so much.
