I have a workshop that at one time used to be a garage under the house, but its storage at this point. I wish I could put up a 3-4 car garage, but I would need to buy the old cottage next door to do so. They were trying to get $135k for it this summer. Too much for a tear down, I'd probably double that by the time I was done...and then have a house I'd never get my money back on.

I had a pole barn built this summer and now I’m trying to get that and my garage organized. The first pic is a steel book shelf they were throwing away at work. I really like this and you can get cheap bins at Harbor Freight.

The next 2 pics are of a steel cabinet they were throwing away at work. This cabinet holds all of my screws and nails. I would like to a get couple more.

I got warehouse pallet racks off CL this summer. They give me a lot of extra storage.

Sees thread...oh neat...garages that are organized! Checks thread...LOL a whole 4 pictures of organization! hahaha!!:rofl:

My boss is building a new house...he's got lots of toys and equipment. He built a *big 4 bay garage. It's done and house is nearing completion. Other day I heard him on the phone with an Amish pole building builder getting quotes on a 30x50. He's not even moved in yet and already adding additional storage.

Honestly...as humans I think there is a primal need to fill up any dry/protected storage we can muster? :hair:

It seems like the only thing I ever actually work on in my garage is organization, then the next time I go out there everything is a mess again.

I liked your post but have to say that we have 3 garages and both rigs are parked outside!

I built a garage/shop addition to our house for my metalworking hobby. The original garages are stuffed full of outboard, splitter, cider press, wood working tools, rollout garbage cans, chainsaws, wall tent, ice chests, fishing gear and all the other misc. paraphernalia that accumulates over the years. You don't get to see pictures of them. What I will post is some pics of the shop in a rare state of relative cleanliness. The cnc plasma has a down draft chamber that sucks the plasma dust out. The table is controlled by a computer and monitor in a dust free enclosure. I hooked a small fan to a HEPA filter to provide cooling air scrubbed of the conductive shop dust. It actually stays cleaner than the in house computers. Everything else is arranged so I can grab tools quickly without having to look for them. Very compact but works well for me! shop1.jpg shop2.jpg shop3.jpg shop4.jpg shop5.jpg shop6.jpg

    That’s very impressive!
I think the motivator for me would be all that light you have exposing all the mess I have.
    Maybe I’ll start there.

Lighting is a huge factor in a shop or garage! But you are absolutely right, while you can see your work better, you can also see your mess better!

I kinda like it also but can't lay claim to that drawing. Got it on a forum and did a bunch of clean up to make it cutable. Creekin , My neighbor calls the shop "Aladdin's Cave". The Wif is always hanging extras stuff on the walls!
