I dont get a very bad reaction from either poison oak or ivy. just where i touch it usually. But yeah, that walnut has always gave me a rash. If i wear long sleeves, not a issue.

There are a few woods that will make me hive up or get stuffy. I think it's from exposure from all the time in the wood shops. Spanish Cedar is the devil. It gives me a rash that starts to ooze.
Walnut dust and shavings will kill a horse, or so I've heard.

Yeah i have been messing around with alot of lumber the last few years with the sawmill. Maybe that has something to do with it? Never heard of Spanish Cedar, sounds really bad.

You definitely want to keep black walnut sawdust away from the vegetable garden.

We used spainish cedar for our porch railings. we were replicating the old stuff and i was going to use PT but the man making them said he couldn't laser cut PT because of the fumes. and he recommended spainish cedar. i just read a warning on a bag of wood pellets not to use for horse bedding because it may contain walnut wood which causes laminitis in horses.
found a pic of the porch slats.
