    I like that cat! I'm a Polaris guy mostly, but I do love some Cats too. And I feel ya on the 2-stroke vs. 4 stroke deal. I think snowmobiles should be 2-stroke. "It ain't snowmobiling unless your coat smells like gaaaaaaasssss!!"

    I've ridden nearly every 4 stroke sled out there. They are impressive, and honestly make a great trail sled.

    Those fx nytro's in the xtx 144" track are a very fun sled. As fun as they are stock, you can get them better with a little work, and stupid with a super/ turbo charger.

    I do like the 2 stroke smell though, the 2 stroke really works well in sleds, especially in off trail use.

    That's impressive. I'll have to look up the specs, but that is a full mod. I see no production parts.

    I've seen a turbo nypex ( fx nytro with an Apex 4cyl) do 150+ on a short radar run ice track. It was wanting to wheelie at 150.:bug: lots of power there.

    Yep. That's the best way to get all season use. The biggest issue around here is that they are not trail legal. I don't see why not as long as they have a headlight and tail/ brake light.

    Possibly last year on this current iq, miles are racking up on it. And it gets flogged hard constantly.

    Still waiting on maintenance parts/belts to show up.
    Never got my shocks rebuilt...
    Thinking of trying a carbide sharpener.
    Gotta order a few gallons of oil.

    Going to try a kevlar belt, dumpy poo laris goes through 2 a season.

    my '15 Indy just ran me a nice $850 service bill. Drive shaft bearings, some idler bearings, misc bushings/caps, rear shocks rebuilt plus all the normal maintenance. Yeah...Not the cheapest sport. Sometimes I try and add up my cost per mile when you factor in the sled itself, gas, maintenance etc....It's not a nice number.

    The drive shaft bearings can really mess up stuff if not fixed, it's good to get dun.

    If we got reliable snow anymore I would consider it money well spent but with the constant trend of shorter warmer winters I'm never going to splurge for a new sled.

    Same belt for the last 7 years. Rusty leaky fox shocks. Hifax? I hope. Seat torn. Smokes like camel Joe on start up. Handle bars are a we bit bent.

    Summer maintenance plan? Can't be bothered!

    That looks like a snomobile salvage yard.
    Front Artic Cat looks simular to the 1972 Puma I owned.
    Next one back looks like a eariler John Deer
    I see Moto Ski hoods and Ski Doo
    A few Snoi Jets too
    A polaris TX to the right of the cat.
    A skiroule way back there too.

    Now if you had a newer cat, they eat a couple belts per weekend. Yeah, those 150 dollar belts.

    I won't buy a brand new sled again either, not unless I'm rolling in it. Now a new leftover, that's enticing.

    But, yeah, we need more reliable weather before I do that. I also have a charge up in the northwoods, it just takes a while to get there.

    Even up north is becoming unreliable. Last two February trips have been awful, and we are thirty miles west of Hayward... Plenty far north. We had open water on the lakes and nearly no snow. Freaky and uncomfortably warm.

    Glad I don't have your belt appetite. I'd sell it. I don't mind wrenching, but despise stuff that is an expensive and frequent failure. That's just bad design.

    I would really love a newer sled just for the better riding position... What's a good buy, upright seating, four stroke, two seater?

    I actually own a really clean 72 cheetah that's in far better shape than the one in your picture.

    No I'm not leaving them out. Both were in the barn up till a few weeks ago. The ZR fired on the third pull and after creating a haze of two stroke smoke roared out of the barn skis in the air. Cheetah not so much. Gas was bad and came out under tractor power.

    Pretty certain that is a 72 cheetah. I own one...life has been much kinder to mine. It belonged to my parents when new... Only a few dings from mishaps as a kid.

    Pretty sure that I see a phazer back there also.

    This is a pic of a 67 mustang. It is what we had back in the 60's (go figure). The bench seat had a piano hinge and opened up to a storage bin. Way too many hours on it and even a few more trying to start it in cold weather! Had to pre-mix the gas (of course) and the track was cleated. Heavy machine!

    I had a 79 Polaris 340 TX it had a cleated track so it was studded for rideing the icey back roads where we lived then. Nice sled but I saw my first Polaris Indy a 1980 model so I bought a 1981 model. Still have it and yes you still had to premix the gas for it.
    Bought my wife a Polaris trail indy in 1984 was the first oil injected Polaris I saw
    We still have both of them along with my first sled a 1972 Mercury rocket CCW 340, the 1974 Sno Twister a 400cc machine but the engine sezed and Mercury has a deal going to switch the 400 for a 440 or 340 for $300.00. I chose the 340 and it was and still is scary fast.
