Trying a new fan layout. Really seems to help with keeping things even. I had been blowing warm air to cool spaces. Not optimal but was limited by the fan i had and not wanting to put a fan in the middle of a walking area.

Have a clip mount fan now blowing low cold air into a warm space. Much better.

I have a ceiling fan in the family room and always had it on low blowing down. Had a fan up in the corner of the kitchen blowing into the rest of the house. Last year I decided to try something so I shut off the ceiling fan and put a 10 inch fan on the floor where the kitchen meets the family room where the stove is. Boy does that work better. Normally I had a 10+ degree difference between the family room and the bedrooms at the other end of the house. Now it's about 6 degrees. Doesn't seem like much but we keep the family room between 67 and 70 so having it 60 to 64 or 65 is huge. I remember the old saying that a pellet stove is a space heater and the space I want to heat is my house!

I’m still amazed how much better it is. I can feel the air flow.

IIRC, the ceiling fan is supposed to be switched to blow the air UP in the winter.....takes the warm air at the ceiling and sends it out & down the wall to the floor area.

I'm still a non-believer. However, my cold air rooms are over the garage, which stays 10-15* warmer than outside. So, I was pulling up a never-ending-supply of cold air that needed to be warmed up. I actually watched the thermometer drop a couple degrees an hour until it got really cold in those rooms. Pushing air into the back rooms works best for me (and it does a dang good job).

Okay, I'm not actually a non-believer, I just believe that in certain circumstances it doesn't work as it does in other circumstances.

X2, that's the way I have mine running during the winter :)
When I have the basement Harman on, you could feel the cold air going down the stairs on the lower part  and the higher part you feel the warm air working it's way upstairs (convection effect)
The new toy in the house.....

    Say, that looks familiar!

I can also confirm running the ceiling fan in reverse during the winter works like a charm. Especially in a room with vaulted ceilings, it moves that heat floating up by the ceiling and evenly distributes it throughout the room.
