We just replaced our insert this past summer. We are still learning about our Lopi Revere insert but so far it works great.

    Nice.

I like the idea that there is still a cooking surface available.

Yeah the cooktop is a great feature

I had forgotten we kept a tea kettle sitting on top of the insert in our house in Arizona

Added some much needed moisture to the air

Thats a nice looking setup and I recognize the brand as being sold up here by one or the other of the dealers

Today I am trying to sort out the hydronic heater/blower in the garage

It blew water from every union and fitting when the quake hit

Luckily I had shut off valves to cut it out of the boiler loop

I worried about getting the two main 1" dielectric unions for the circulating system replaced and running and the boiler is going again

The adjuster came yesterday and said all the damage is superficial/cosmetic

Pardon me if I dig a bit deeper and decide that for myself

Regardless, with the standard 10% deductible that all earthquake policies have this entire little even is going to be completely out of pocket

We have a Valcourt Cartier. Pretty small but Valcourt makes bigger size fireplaces. Seems like a good product, but I am no expert. UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_1115.jpg

Drolet 1800i owner here. Love it. It's nowhere near the looks of some of those enameled beauties, but it's got a big firebox, really cranks out the heat, big glass door to see the fire, and is very well priced. Several other people here have the same unit. Solid performance for a good price.

This is from a store in Hayward Wi. Not too bad as they occasionally runs sales with discount coupons.

Another Drolet 1800i guy here, thanks Suburban wood snob brenndatomu and a few others (my apologies if I missed you)! So far I love it for all the same exact reasons listed above! I did the menards thing with the 11% off, shipped to my house!

Love what you did with extending the hearth with tile. I really need to do that!! Just last week, was raking some coals, one fell down into the blower and up and out it shot onto the rug :headbang:. Wasn't to bad but I gotta be careful, my hearth isn't too deep like yours and my rugs start right there.

Napoleon 1401 insert here. No complaints. Heating 1300 sf cape built in ‘41. New windows, foamed rim joists and I tried to seal up all the doors as best I could. Who knows what’s on or in the walls, probably fiber board and maybe some sort of cellulose fill. I could run it harder than I do to get more heat upstairs but it’s in a small room and already sometimes cooks us out.
