Gave the boiler another dose of hedge. Feels colder outside than the thermometer indicates. Nice and warm inside though

I was 73 when I got back to the house after 8 when I took my so to school. Had to load the stove up. We were chilly today. In the 40s with wind. Loaded it up for a small load to burn off fast before bed and I pack it tight. It's 39f right now.

Mid twenties here again, thankfully the teens overnight have helped to freeze the ground and runoff from the springs a bit, so hopefully mud season 2 is over and I can commence to having a smooth driveway again. With the river across the road, drainage culvert on either side and multiple springs on the back hill, we'll never dehydrate here.. But I do feel like I'm on an island sometimes! The freeze is quite welcome.

Pine burning down coals for now, load of sugar and red maple queued up for overnight.

It's fun most of the year. The river isn't eating quality due to being a mill river years back, so no fishing (like to eat my catch if I'm wetting a line!) But the wildlife is great. Tons of bird species, slaamanders, frogs etc that the kids love finding.. Nice to take a short walk to cool down in the summer, down by the river or up the hill into the woods. And hey, we never have to water the garden after planting. :)

Just dropped below 32. It's 31f now. Just put a load of red oak in the stove for the night. 80f in the stove room. Down from 83 when I had the small load in burning fast to get some heat into the house before the night load.
