15 OAT and 74 IAT, 68 upstairs this morning, but no wind thankfully. Just put a couple pine splits on to burn the coals down half an hour ago and we’re back up to 500 STT and climbing. The Fireview is doing a great job of heating our 2100 sq ft raised ranch so far with no assistance. We’re getting down into the single digits this week so it’ll be a good test. Still waiting to see when we need the help of the heat pump upstairs and it hasn’t happened yet. The two other wood stoves we’ve had on this hearth couldn’t get nearly this far and the first one was a big steel smoke dragon. The pellet stove didn’t compare either. Thank you Woodstock! bear 1998 take care of that ankle! Hope you’re back at it soon. Thank God for good wives!
Right at 19F here about 8am. Pine in the Wood Gun now, and before I’m off to work, about 3/4 load of Ash and Maple will go in. Last night at 8pm was 3/4 load of Maple/Ash/Cherry, which had no problem going for 11 hours and leaving me a nice deep bed of red coals.
28 outside now. Got an unexpected dusting of snow overnight. Just went out and raked some coals around in the boiler. I'll probably load it up around noon. That will be a 52 hour burn on 3/4 load.
It wasn't really terribly cold and I'm burning the best firewood on the planet (3 year hedge), so it should last a while.
14* this morning. Loaded up with some ash and a few oak sticks. The furnace kicked on when the house dropped to 66* this morning. When I left the furnace had been off a while and the temp was up to 68* inside.
29 outside. 74 inside. Burning a little poplar and cherry. Getting ready to watch the funeral of president bush
28* outside with a dusting of snow. Once again Ash is on the menu for my old smoke dragon. Of course, it has been sitting top covered in a field for 3 years so there isn’t much smoke.
After having my little fall yesterday, thought it would be good to post a pic of what I now have on my low cut boots. I got them from LL Bean and they work good for those quick trips to the mailbox.
So sorry about the ankle (did you tuck and roll?). I've had that so many times in life... They can hurt. But at least you have a good woman to help.
Yes for sure. Your roof does not have that steep of a pitch so I'd for sure keep it from piling up on there.
This is not good at all. Well, it is good that you got the cleats out now. Hope you don't have a headache from this one. Falls in winter can really be nasty.
Dang. Temperature was down to 77 in here this morning... Light snow outside. May take a day off from wood cutting.
Currently sitting at -13 C feels -22 C or 8 F feels -7 F. The temp has dropped a few degrees since early this morning, and I think there might be a few chilly nights in store if the weather guessers are half right. Can't complain too much though as it could be much worse. Poplar in the reactor.
