Hi all :handshake: Lissa here, Nick isn’t really into posting things, he’s usually too busy fixing things and climbing trees. (I do read some of the posts to him n’ such) We’ve been on this site for one month today and so far, I love it! Figured I’d better formally introduce ourselves :salute: We are an arborist couple from central Indiana. Nick was born into this line of work, his dad cut trees and sold firewood on the side so, naturally, he started off young splitting wood and eventually cutting then climbing. He can run up a tree like a squirrel LOL literally! Wood is life for us :woodsign: Nick has his own tree service and we also split and sell firewood. I’ve become obsessed with wood! I still have LOTS to learn and stumbled across your club whilest googling tree info. Thanks to All of you for making us feel so welcome here and everything I’ve learned so far and will learn along the way. :tree: ~Lissa

I Craig, I have been heating with wood for 27 years. This fall I replaced a Waterford Trinity with a Woodstock progress. I am very impressed with the progress. With the Trinity I had to work hard to get an 8 hour burn time. With the progress I can go 12 hours with no problem. The Trinity was a bit small to heat my great room, the progress keeps 2/3 of the house warm while burning far less wood. I wish I had made the change years ago.

Hi. My name is Chris. I was a Military mechanic for 27 years. I currently work for the local county as a mechanic. Heavy equipment, Automotive and small engines.
I have a Shop at home and do Mechanic work in the evenings and weekends.
In Northern Alberta home heating costs are reasonable using natural gas. But it does get down to -40c for at least a week a winter. I have a large backup generator wired up in a shed for when the power goes out. I just really want a backup source of winter heat.
I've always loved wood heat as that is what we had when growing up. Home and a cottage with wood heat Etc.

Looking Fwd to getting my Drolet HT 2000 installed.

Hello everyone. Been lurking around for awhile, reading, and learning. While I have had fireplaces and an indoor stove as a kid, I have never burned wood as my primary heat source. My wife and I purchased a new home with 26 acres in April with an OWB. I have always loved working with wood, I am woodworker and have been called a lumber hoarder, I have a nice size stash of hardwood lumber I have collected over the years. I am fairly new to this firewood processing thing but I am learning.

I definitely have some questions I will be asking soon, but thought I should introduce myself first.

    Josh

Welcome Josh! We have a few woodworkers here (fishingpol, Shawn Curry) in addition to hordes of wood hoarders. Congrats on 26 acres, that should keep you well supplied.
