Moving the big one

    I've been kicking around how I was going to get the big Maple with the root wad off the top of the log pile.
    I had some success when I pulled the key piece out and the Maple made a tumble down the side.
    I saved it for another day to give it one more roll but it looks a bit more manageable now. [​IMG][​IMG][​IMG]

    Cut the root base off while ontop of the pile? Root balls are bar and chain killers. Stinking Little Rock’s can rain rain down on you. Nice pile of btu’s Sir:dex:

    Yes, just go up there and cut that root ball off.

    Root balls don't have to be chain killers. Just cut above where it met ground so you miss the dirt.

    Gonna roll it one more time if I can and then pull out the 757 to turn it into firewood. I’m thinking it will be safer than tackling where it sits. I was happy to get it off the top.
