Hello Just replaced the SuperStor and bled the lines, turned the boiler on and I can feel water being pulled into the circulator from the bottom SS boiler output port. I could not feel the water moving in the line into the upper boiler input port of the heat exchanger. Even after 5 mins no warm water even though the boiler fired for quite a few mins? So I opened the boiler output drain and then I could feel the boiler input pipe get hot! Why?? The boiler output pipe is still cold and the potable water inside does not seem to be getting warmer? Then the boiler stops firing. I tested the heating zones and they work fine. What gives??
Here is one more pic. The new SuperStor has no label for boiler in and boiler out so it appears it really does not matter. However we went by this view on the HTP web site. The output of the boiler goes to the top port and the boiler return with the circulator pulling the water back into the bottom of the boiler goes to the bottom port.
Is the circulator facing the correct way? I'm just throwing that out there as something that seemed important from an install manual I puuled up online. Good luck getting it working correctly!
I am going to put the hose on it and bleed it good. Luckily I have hot water thanks to the New EcoSmartie EcoSmart 27kw IHW installation - any tips?
Thanks BogieB The circulatory are setup near the bottom of the boiler in in the older style pull configuration. The new style configuration is to have them at the top of the boiler in a push configuration. However either way works and I did not change that since we just replaced the SuperStor and nothing else.
Hello I worked on troubleshooting all day today. :-( I tied bleeding the other zones and the boiler zone again, and even bypassing the aquastat with no luck!! Finally, I put the sweat check valve for the boiler zone in the summer or manual position and then bled the system one more time. Bingo! After bleeding, I turned on the boiler, after a few seconds the circulator turned on but this time was different! Hot water was pulled into the boiler supply line and then it was pulled thru the SuperStor into the circulator! Then the cool 50 degree water in the SuperStor started climbing in temperature! 60, 70, 90 whoops had to put the aquastat back in the circuit. Now the water is up to 100! Not sure if the aquastat is working well so I will run the hot water on the boiler and SuperStor for a few days to see if the 130 Deg tank temperature is maintained like before. Then I will try the sweat check on winter to see if that works. Then I will switch in the EcoSmart. Looking good now! This is what my dad taught me to do . Isolate each end with a shutoff , I use ball valves and put a ball valve boiler drain inside the the ball isolation valves. Hook up a supply hose and drain hose then using house pressure fill the zone with water. The water will flow thru forcing all air out. Shut off water and boiler drain valves. Open ball valves and run circulator Also good way to remove water from a zone or hot water heater. First isolate with ball valves then blow air in the supply valve and let it force water out the return. Long hose will go thru window to drain outside.
