Just wanted to know if any of you stihl ms362 guys use other chains for your saw or only the the stihl brand its 20" bar, thanks
I've found Stihl chain holds an edge longer than any other brand I've used. Only drawback, it's expensive. If that isn't an issue, stay with it.
20" sharp RS is the best for a 362. Ran that combo this morning through some cherry and couldn't be happier with it.

I used Stihl RS chain until the price went stupid. I now use Oregon LGX, the stihl chain have more durability but not twice as much as the price reflects.
I agree 100%. I use more LGX than Stihl now. For a while I was getting 68 driver loops (of lgx)for $10 shipped and 72's for $12. I did pick up one loop of the new EXL, just haven't found a log big enough to try it yet (42").
I'm partial to Stihl chain myself. Pretty much just run RM anymore since my stove is on a diet of skidded wood and yard trees. And at the risk of getting attacked I'll go and say that I can process more wood with RM than I ever could with RS. Although I always change the angle of RM to the angle of RS making it more of a hybrid version. As for cost I buy a 100' roll and cry once then I forget......
I won't flame you for that one. RM Sharpened at 30 deg top plate angle cuts well & definitely stays sharp longer in the dirty stuff. The chain that stays sharp longer cuts more wood making it the more productive set up. I'm racing the Winter cold, not another saw.
It's changing it to a 60° angle I was referring to. Don't recall offhand what angle Stihl puts on but it's definitely a "blunter" chain out of the box. The hook angle of a RS with cornerless RM durability is why I call it a hybrid. I'll admit it takes a little bit more power to run compared to RS as your "length of chip"is longer with the radius, hence the increase in the "sawdust" percentage contained in the chips.
That wood speak volumes about the person making such comments. Ya have to try out stuff and see what works, then keep doing it. Any chance you could share a pic of a cutter or two? I never had good luck with semi-chisel.
Well. I'm pretty sure I just learned something. My grinder is set 30/60/10 & I sharpen all my 3/8 chains on those angles. Never paid any attention to the 2nd angle on RM to know it was any different. Guess that's what I get for being too "smart" to read the directions LOL. Thanks Screwloose !
