What dealer was that? My bike is still at Monadnock as I has having new tires put on when this last snowmagedden happened, and then the Thanksgiving freeze out... oh well, it will rain and warm up for the next few days and I'll go get it then. Gotta get new rubber for the 2019 season.

I use Heritage H-D in Concord, NH. Wonderful people there and they hold a storage party late January/early February. Anyone who is storing a bike there is invited (+1) for food, 2 drinks (beer or wine), interesting workshops and door prizes (I've won riding boots, detail packages, sweatshirts, even a stage 1 kit). You get to wander thru their service areas to ask questions of experts (custom painters, custom parts, the mechanics etc.), plus visit your bike (and see everyone else's). A favorite draw is the service personnel have a chili cook off. Winner is decreed by ballot voting and gets an extra vacation day - so you know they are doing their best to impress. There is also some kind of bike show - some years they ride customized, current year bikes that will be for sale. I was talking to their HOG representative and this year they will have a bike on tracks, so that will be cool.

Okay, enough of my gushing - you get the idea ;)

    CRAP!

I wish I would've hit the ignore thread option for lets see those bikes....:smoke:

You guys really are a bad influence!

(background) My son bought a bike this late summer and I was kinda kicking it around to pick up another. I half heartedly looked at some on craigslist but never viewed them. After spending the T-day weekend hunting with my son; something we haven't done since mid 2000's due to his move; I got the brainstorm to get a bike so we can meet up for rides. (99 is gonna be so happy!) I wonder just how good my balance is anyway? Haven't had a bike since mid 2000ish.

    CRAP!

Well it would be an investment that would reap returns in time spent with your son. What a huge payoff!
I planned to give my Honda to my son eventually. He's 18 now but I'm in no rush to make it happen. As much as I'd like to share the hobby, I already know how high the risk is. And that's probably too much bike for a beginner.

    Good dealership.

My new to me bike I picked up this year.

2011 Ultra Classic with 31K miles when I bought it.

Then last year I picked up a new to me Valkyrie with 30K on it. I couldn't resist.

Both are really nice bikes! Had a friend that had a Valkerie that looked just like that one (he even put on that same windshield). I haven't been in touch with him for several years but he probably still has it - He loved that thing.

That is my third one. I put 103K miles on the first one and then my BIL had a accident with it and they totaled it. So I bought an Interstate model, with the full fairing and trunk and all that, but it really wasn't what I wanted.. so when I came across this one I sold the other one and bought this one.

I'd still have the first one had it not gotten totaled.

oh well, my BIL was okay, and stuff like that happens.

How far is that? What part of Oregon are you from? I used to spend a lot of time in Corvalis working for HP.

I believe its ~1450 miles in a plane from PDX to PHX.. however I rode HWY101/HWY1 all the way down to LA'ish, with a stop at Laguna Seca for Moto GP, then cut over on I10.. So a few hundred 100 miles more at least? Then took the inland route up through Bryce Canyon, salt flats, sun river, and whatnot.. I am in the Portland burbs, working in the semiconductor business .. Only one speeding ticket on that bike ever, and it was on that trip.. I10 in cali right before the AZ border, those CHP's don't mess around!! So overall I don't remember the miles, but I took 3 weeks to do it! That includes the 3 extra days in AZ with severe sunburn recovery!!
