Where i live youll find alot of blackthorn (Schwarzdorn/Schlehen) and after the 1st frost people start picking them, they need the cold to change their taste from bitterniss to more sweetness. Sometimes people start picking them earlier and put them in the freezer for a little while, has the same effect. I picked some to make sloe gin, works with vodka too. My grandmaw used to make it with Korn liqour and amounts of sugar. Im sure it works with white rum too... I put it in the freezer for another night, even though we had some frost i just wanna make sure. Got a bottle, sugar and some 70% Gin.... to be continued.
I bet there is Sir, i reckon i just didnt get it in the first place what youve said there about the junipers. You actually wanna distill something or just put them into gin?
I also made some with cornelian cherry, which grows on my property. But that one allready sits on the shelf for a while.
You confused me.. I always thought that juniper berries were a requirement for gin. Seems it is so. Juniper is the one botanical required for gin to be gin
