So I picked up a free 025. The thing looks like it was in the sun for 5 years or more!! Has grime and gunk all over it so the tank looks black!! I sprayed it with purple cleaner and hosed it off to look this bad!

So what should I do? It has a scratched piston and just over 100psi.

Thought just a piston and rings if all else is well and sell it? Or go for an ebay cheap o complete motor for $60 but in the cosmetic condition I bet it just brings $100 and not worth it then. Factory parts blow the budget for resale. Or I can part it out....but its so bad cosmetically that only the flywheel , recoil, wrap black handle and chain break and carb are the modest decent parts. Handle is fine just faded. Or should I just put it in a box for parts?? What would you do?? IMG_20140417_195344_944.jpg IMG_20140417_195400_564.jpg

Oh and the muffler back is seized to the cylinder gonna have to break it free!!!

I have a 025 and a MS250 and they are both nice limbing saws. They are a lot more saw than most of the box store 45cc saws.

I have a 026 with some sun fade. I've been unsuccessful in getting rid of the fade.

You'd be hard pressed to get money back, unless you buy new/used plastic.

Probably a bunch a good parts (crank, carb, coil, flywheel, clutch, etc.).. You already have a eBay account, so it would be a no brainer to me.

Unless you were keeping it for yourself?

Were thinking a like on this DEX. I was thinking if I redid the motor I would have to put plastic on it to sell and I would be right at what I could get out of it then. So there would be no point.

I think I will tear it down and part it out on the bay.

I'm not even sure I would want to part that one out, yikes! I'd probably just sell it as is to unload it! Too bad, I've had a couple 025/250 and loved them. That would make a good ugly runner though. You could leave it sitting out in the back of the truck and no one would touch it!

Yea the plastic probably wouldnt sell or be REAL cheap! But the carb and flywheel, coil, recoil , wrap handle are all ok for a working saw

I think I may have a carcass, but that still leaves you needing a P&C and having to spend time on it.

I thought about what another guy said, turning it into a sleeper saw. But that assumes I want it to run. I dont really. I have a 45cc husky and am underwhelmed by it. I just like big saws. So to put time into it to use it is not something that I think I will do.

Dont put a dime or any effort into it. Trust me.... Its the freebies that hurt the wallet ! Its a shame... 025 is a great saw.

I work with the guy. I didnt go out of my way to get it or anything. I did get a bar with it but its beat just as hard!!

The more I look at it I will part it out on the bay I believe.

If anyone wants a part off it shoot me a pm we will work a price out. You won't want much off this thing though!!!!! Carb maybe??

I'd fix it too, just for giggles. Chinese parts are cheap. I'd try sanding that plastic and see if the color comes back. You got nothing to lose.

A whole assembled chinese motor is $60!!!

When I pull it down I may look to see about the cylinder. If I can get away with piston and rings I may just do that for giggles. But I dont want to put a whole motor or P/C in it.

And the plastic looks fibrous like its fiberglass with gel coat originally? And the gel coat is worn off. I was itchy after messing with it but maybe mind over matter?
