People here have to learn how to drive again every year and some never do. My wife was going on about the stupid UPS driver trying to go up the road the other day barely moving, peddle to the metal in 3” of snow.  There were numerous accidents statewide and it’s gonna happen again tonight and tomorrow. I hate going out on those days because it’s so easy to get wiped out by some fool with a lead foot and sh*t for brains driving an $80k SUV

Hear ya on that, now days when the s hits I just stay home. After 20 years of plowing that stuff I just don't have it in me to fight my way though the crazies any more.
Heat wave this morning 20 deg. F true to form it warms up a bit and the wite stuff returns- mixed mess for thanksgiving weekend. bunch of rain in forecast- doesn't do much for hunting. It's our gun season for whitetails this week saw one doe Sat. no shot available, Long shot on Sunday morning ( over 200 yards) miss judged distance put a nice puff of dirt up right between front legs. Excuses- Had the woods unit not set up for long shots as that's where i had been was heading back in when we spotted each other. Sun glinting off iron didn't help much either. No second shot as quarry moved into shadows of the creek line, sun just clearing top of trees, blasting into scope made impossible to see ( 4x). Couldn't tell sex due to sun, distance, even with the scope only that is was a good sized deer.

image.jpg image.jpg Didn't drop as low overnight as forecast but that's okay. Poplar uglies chugging along. Appears we might be in for some wind and rain and snow in the evening and overnight, without the weather warming. Gonna be some slick roads!

It's been in the 30's daytime but still have some snow on the ground. Perhaps not too much longer. Mid 40's predicted for this coming weekend. Will feel like a heat wave.

37 out there now and feels nice.

Well, I'm back to burning wood vs sunburn.

So here's the stark comparison of what weather we had for over a week in Hawaii, vs our home.

    And then this...

    Screenshot_2018-11-19-17-25-59.png

So, pine and black walnut in the stove so far. It is supposed to get to 22° tonight. I'll put in some gooder stuff for the overnight. Probably sugar maple and elm.

Same here, there seems to be once a year that Johns outside. Easy to do when winter is 9 months long.

Hey Rope , just out of curiosity, when you acclimate to a climate that cold, what's a comfortable indoor temp?
30F here with light snow. Silver Maple & Oak in the boiler.

We keep the house warm and enjoy the warmth of a nice wood fire offers. We have been having steady snow, the clouds have keep us 50* warmer than this time last year. We probably wear way less clothes outside than most think. We are in a dry climate and the thermostat looks crazy cold. We have very little wind or humidity. It takes below zero for a second layer if your working. At -50*+ we usually have 3 layers. The right gear cold is not much of an issue. I would rather-50* over +80* any day.
