There is a business that needs concrete hauled away. Estimated 9-10 tons and it is in 6-9 inch chunks. It would take two trips with my dump trailer and I could use the concrete to use as fill. The customer will have some people to help hand load and I will have one or two laborers also. What would be a fair price?

How far will you have to haul it?

20-30 miles. Easy driving off the man roads.

I would rent a loader and use the laborers they provide, could easily do it in less than a day. So rental fee plus your hourly rate (which should include your truck and dump trailer costs).

I'm thinking a lot depends on the customer. Big place with money to burn or a guy looking for the cheapest way out. By hand tossing them in is rough going.

That was my next concern. Hand throwing 9-10T is going to take some time. I would definitely take into consideration wether or not you’re helping a small business owner or larger chain owned place.

Gotta look at it from an excavators view. He's gonna bring a skidsteer to load it and a dump truck to haul away about 5-6 cubic yards of debris. I'd say an excavator would charge about $600.
Btw, that's a lotta work humping 40lb chunks over the side of a dump trailer

Small town brewery. It was just request on Facebook. I could use the concrete to fill in some washouts and re-enforce some culverts.

I’m not really wanting to rent a skid loader. I just want to park as close as possible and let the laborers load it up. I’m not afraid of hard work but I’ve had my knee scoped lately and the doc told me not to carry weight on it right now. Park close and have it loaded, dump it at the house and repeat. I’ll toss some cash to my workers

In that case since you want the material maybe just have them cover the labor and fuel. At least by me someone would grab it for fill relatively quick.

If you had to pay your men $15 each and the use of your truck and trailer should be worth an easy $40 to $50 per hour. You have your time and fuel and if you didn’t want the concrete you could possibly have dump fees.If I remember right last time I paid dump fees in Columbus it was $20 to $30 a load depending on weight.

Brewery you say? I am pretty sure I could figure out a mutually beneficial agreement with such a business.

$750, $125 apiece to your two laborers and $500 for you.

That sounds like stepping over a dollar to save a dime, at least in the labor consideration. I can't imagine bailing 9-10 tons concrete by hand up n over into a trailer by hand. And that's just an estimate. If you didn't have laborers to do it, would you do it yourself by hand? How long do you see it taking?

He's saying you will have as much or more money in payroll compared to a skid steer rental for the day. You will also have some people who are no longer your friends by the end of the day. Crete is heavy. Lifting over trailer rail sux.

2xguys=15$/hr each=$30 per hour x8hrs=$240 bucks per day and probably losing their friendship :) Theres no way I'd work that hard for that cheap either.

Skid steer rental=$250-300/ day plus you keep your friends and nobody feels like they got hit by a truck the next day.

I wouldn't touch that job for less than $750. Forget that you need the material....that's irrelevant imo.
