Yes have been here a while love this site to say I have an addiction to reading other posts and looking at pics of how everyone does things different is an understatement, always reading on here at break time at work and sitting around at home

Hi fellow hoarders, I'm Justin from Australia, down here I'm cutting Yellow and Grew box, 2 of the toughest timbers around.
I'm also a chainsaw collector and varmint shooter.
Running a few different saws, Stihl 029,039, Husky 61, 281, 3120 and a few other older Macs and Solo. 20181012_135655.jpg

Hello there just old saws & Lumberjacked. I'm sure you will be made most welcome here. A varmint shooter ?......It seems it is not uncommon for shooters to have older saws. A lot of attention to the details required for both. For me though, It has to be old Jonsereds and grey Squirrel + Reynard with a .220 swift. I imagine you also might benefit from a good puff of dust if a bit off on a longer shot. Care to elaborate at all ? As it happens, last wood I cut up for some decent timber with a J 621 was Jarrah railway sleepers to make window surrounds, door frames and window seats. I understand that it is Australian Eucalyptus......I believe locally may be called "stink wood". If so, I can see why......perfumed mixture of many tomcats and something warm stuck to bottom of boot, worse after electric planer ! Seems to be slowly dissipating ?

I love my high powered rifles and old chainsaws, almost 100% just shooting European Red Fox, I have access to around 6000 acres of sheep country, rifles I'm using are .17rem, 204 ruger and 22/250.
    Reload all my own ammo
I have a passion for the older saws, most aren't suitable for modern use.

Hi Im Mark. I live in Maine with my wife of 31 years. I did roofing ,siding and carpentry most of my life and for the last 15 years I do cabinets and furniture in my shop. I don't cut a lot of wood but burn a quite a bit. I just turned 58 just today. Seems like a good forum here. Thanks for having me.

Hi mat60, glad to meet you! There are more than a few Mainers here. Tell us what you burn, how you get it, and what you burn it in! 13062197_940650602699069_1887777247368299630_n.jpg

Hi Chaz. Thanks for the welcome. Woodworking is a lot of fun as long as you keep it a hobby. To be honest in my area its hard to make a living at it. I mostly need to build bookcases and some cabinets and don't get to spend a lot of time doing new things like I did when it was a hobby. Im going to keep my shop but may also do some small jobs this coming spring. Wish I was young again. :) If you or others need help with woodworking just ask and Ill do the best I can to help. Here is me in the shop. 100_0653.JPG

Hi Marvin...I burn with a Hot blast 577m in my shop. Had it for 6 years or so. It does a nice job in my shop and will burn anything and allot of it. :) Im thinking about a US stove 2500 EPA because its what I can afford for now but the only thing is my wood is fairly green this year and even if it wasn't Im not sure if it would heat a 1600 SF shop with 11 FT ceiling that's not insulated very well. Im burning about 8 cord a year in the shop. . Thank you guys for the welcome.. 100_0618.JPG

Supposed to introduce myself here. Background is grew up old school on a ranch where my grandfather actually had a kilns supplying charcoal, uncle was down in Argentine teaching them how to do it back in the early 70's. Wood fire is in my blood. Grew up, got a degree, ... , married at forty, and when I turned fifty, got a kid. So started building a house for them. I've been living in a builder grade subdivision crap house for 20 some years, and now that I have a chance, purchased 20 wooded acres in the city and will be cutting dead trees, bow hunting deer, milking mini cows, and teaching my kid as much of the real world as I can while I build a house that his great-great-grandchildren can live in.

Mini cows eh, interesting story there to be sure.

Not sure how you found 20 wooded acres in a 'city', but good to have land that can sustain you and yours.
