Only polishin' here is with compressed air! My junk gets a good cleaning with the air hose that's all.
For reference, my 346 gained just a tic over 40% cut speed with the same chain, same log (ECsaws ported that one).

I have polished a few ports dall... :dremel:

Still raw. :pain: Getting better tho.
Have you ever timed cuts to measure gains? If I remember right, Dan got a little under 35% from my 357. The others I never timed before sending. MikeLee completely transformed the 365sp. That's one I wish I had a number on. :saw:

Most saws I do gain between 25-40% in cut speed. That 036 a few posts back turned out pretty good

Can anyone tell me the difference between brake horsepower that Stihl uses and regular old horsepower?
Online searches offer no explanation besides it’s different. Ok I’ll admit it wasn’t an exhaustive search.

I think there's a down arrow that says "more". I've noticed the same thing til I saw the arrow.

The 361 isn't really a fair comparison anyway. 066 carb, no air filter......

Gotta ask. What was it you picked up in your hand? A phone or is there some tach meter that reads rpm by electrical voodoo?
Because if there’s some voodoo tach meter I want one. LOL

Look at ebay for "tiny tach" or "works connection"

    I will, thanks.
Easy assumption your “the” Kevin. Just how busy are you? Hehehe
No rush, still toying with the idea. I fully realize that first step could open the flood gates into financial insolvency :)

    Here's mine.

Resettable Inductive Tacho Hour Meter Tachometer Works on 2/4 stroke gas engines 7328502200838 | eBay

I wouldn't buy a cheaper one than this. I've had it for a few years and it works fine. All you have to do is get the wire close to the spark plug and it reads. Or you can mount it permanently to the saw.
Yep I'm the same Kevin. Send me a pm if you'd like and we'll talk

361 is a great firewood saw. Not sure what you're old saw was, but this one will probably feel pretty fast. Personally, I wouldn't get it ported until it doesn't feel fast anymore.

I had a 361 several years ago. It felt like a rocket for the first couple years compared to my old 031AV. Then I got used to it.

Here's a little video Tree Monkey made of my MS361 after he porting. It was a very good saw stock (nice power/weight for most bucking work) but after porting it is truly amazing.

I cannot comment on his powerhead mods, but he is for sure "good people." He helped me out in a pinch recently, no question asked. I hope I can repay the favor sooner-than-later.
