Freezing rain came down as I was outside loading my Bannon trailer with some splits. Tarped the boiler shed wood as it was really beginning to drop.

The winds finally subsided, but we'll have -5°F with another storm moving in later tomorrow. Expecting another 8"- stove cranking tonight, 74°F inside.

A little concerned for the chickens, but reading everywhere that they handle the cold well.

The chickens will be fine hopefully. In my experience, it isn't the cold that gets them around here. It's the weasels and Mink.

Well Seasoned do you use your Kubota for snow?
We’re in the 6-8” predicted zone for Friday I’m afraid. It’s a bit early yet imho.

Update; 19 now and they say we'll get 2 to 4 inches tomorrow evening. We shall see. Side note; The town cut down two Ash trees on the common, I grabbed a couple of truckloads of loosely packed logs & rounds. Only the stuff I could lift. Winner, winner.

I know some. The whitetails will push them out of cover. On our family ranch land the whitetails are staying later and later. I saw a whitetail buck this morning that was 20 miles north of where you see any whites this time of year. Plus we have the wolves and lions wasting alot of muleys. The muleys moved to town, and the Lions are following them. Every year when I pack into the steep foothills, it amazes me, how many deer a lion kills. They waste alot in real life.
I'm one of those people that believe mule deer are not as phobic, as whitetail. (Think coyote vs. Red fox ) so yeah the whitetail do take over some. The government does not let us really hunt mule deer that much, which dumbs them down after a couple generations I believe.

Going down to -2 tonight. Can’t believe how early it’s happening this year!

Poplar and spruce (yes, really!) choochin’ for the next 12 hours.

Yes we do. I need to get more diesel, otherwise I would've used it for the HEAVY 8" we got yesterday. I was waiting until the winter blend was at the gas station. Hopefully it is. Stay warm!

In extreme cold...i would still add some fuel additive to be safe. My garage never gets below 40* s so i personally do not use it.
