Shot this deer at 6:48am yesterday morning. First deer with a crossbow. I have to say it was fun. Shot it at a little more than 40 yards, double lunged, recovered about 75 yards away. Nice 35 degree day, no wind.
It confused me whether it was an adult or fawn-when I weighed it, I knew why I was confused. It weighed 80 pounds dressed. Our fawns range between 50-65 pounds, adult doe from 95 up. I think was an abnormally sized fawn.

Congrats. What kind of broad head did you use?

Nice shot. Quick clean kill combined with cold weather makes for good eating.

I used the Parker broad heads that came with accessory package when I bought the crossbow. They shot the same as the field points-they are a 100 grain fixed broad head. With more time to prepare, I may invest in some mechanicals next year.
I will say that I have shot over 60 deer, but that one was quite a thrill-looking forward to next season.

I've taken deer w both mechanical and fixed. Both do a good job imo.
