    I have some shorter cables that can be shackled onto the winch cable to get a little more reach. It's called a tag. Next time out I will take a picture of a tag. A picture explains it much better.

    Its not real creamy going but I have fun getting good firewood out of those piles! Most people would by-pass the wood that's in there.

    I think it's fantastic thank you get your wood from what is left behind in those cuttings.

    Such a massive waste of resources and it's sad to see

    A friend of mine does this for his dad so he can get them in his sawmill. There is a video floating around of him splitting a 6' diameter white oak 20 ft long. They have 300 acres of old growth and this is a common sight there. He only cuts them if they are dead. I will see if I can get it to post here. I was amazed the first time I saw it.

    Yes it is sad , being so close to town those small logs would all disappear if they were stacked next to the road .
