    I do like just using her name. All for sure would recognize her.

    Just her name sounds good to me. Maybe she could write it in shorthand. (I can say stuff like that because I'm a member of the diminished digit club)

    Thanks to all for putting this together for them. I’ll be making a donation later this weekend.

    Shemane. My family wishes you the best and speediest recovery. Hang in there, the healing will happen faster than you think.

    I had an Uncle who lost his arm in a chainsaw accident in a tree when he was a young man. (Before I was ever born) He kept right after everything he wanted to do. Figured it out. He built things. He drove race cars on dirt track. Standard shifting while driving and steering with his legs. o_O He was a farmer and rural mail deliver man. I was amazed by what he could do.

    As you adapt, and you will, people will be amazed at what you will continue to do. Your spirit will make sure of it.

    I like "CountryGirl", because she's a quintessential country girl. She's a pretty lady, pretty dammed tough, and not afraid to get in there and get the job done!

    I don't know what Shemane's sense of humor is, mine can be a little quirky at times I suppose, but as soon as I read Screwloose 's reply, I thought right there it is..."Shorthand"! And I'm not just trying to be funny, I think that would be kinda clever...although I could see how some may not like it...but I'm surely not trying to offend anyone!
    I think using "Shemane" for her user name would be good too...either way :yes:

    And just FYI, I grew up with an amputee...my dad. He tangled with a corn picker when I was 1 YO... and he lost that battle obviously.
    Being that I was so young, I never knew him any other way...and it wasn't until I was in school, and people asked me why my dad had a hook, that I even "realized" that he was "not normal", because he never let it stop him! He never complained, or said "I can't", he just found a different way of getting it done! He would never get a handicap hanger for the car either, he said "my feet work just fine"...although he does have one now, because his feet at almost 76 YO, don't work as good now.
    I never thought much about it until I was an adult, but it is downright impressive what he has accomplished in his lifetime.
    And from what I read about Shemane, I'm sure she will be much like my dad!
    Now then, gotta go figure out how to donate here...EDIT: that wasn't too hard...done!

    Hope Shemane is doing well. I'm in the reattached digit club - helps me count to ten;) , happened to be my middle finger so showing off my boo-boo was always funny.

    I modified my thumb in a table saw as a teenager, trying to mill a slab from a round stick of maple firewood, without much forethought. Friends joked that I wouldn’t be any good at hitching a ride in England. It was overly sensitive to the cold for years, but now I only really think about it when I miss hitting a nail with the hammer.

    {edit: GFM says an issue with organizer account... ?}

    Hmm, being curious, I went to the GFM page and everything looked as it should, or at least as it did when I donated last week. Did not go all the way thru it of course, so maybe the issue is at the end? Or maybe it is a browser issue? I used IE.

    Sorry fellas, it's been a busy week with the blizzard and tree work. I'll get it all straightened out later today or tonight.

    She's doing well, starting to get grumpy with being off work so long.
