I remember that winter in 77 I believe. I was 19 and we had the biggest blizzard in decades and the coast was hit with hurricane force winds that took out quite a few buildings. The snow reminded me of what we used to get in the 60’s. We used to slide off the roof every year like yooperdave.
Makes you grateful there weren't any cell phones back then right? We had a B&W TV (that got 1-2 channels at best) and had nothing but AM on the radio. One of each-radio got turned on in the morning and the TV got turned on in the evening. Period!
Snowing and 20f currently. Heading out to the OWB and then leaving for some morning running around shortly. After I shovel!
-12 this morning. Coldest yet with the AS burning. Colder it gets, the better this nuclear reactor works. Going to be a hard day keeping airlines open.
23f this morning some nice frost on the cars and grass, the house is 70f right now just put a load in the jotul to warm things up, some locust ready to heat things up
33 here. Cold, but not cold enough to not have mud. Awesome. Boiler is still digesting the hedge and black locust I put in yesterday morning. I went back out and rearranged to coals a little bit, but there's more than enough to get me through until this evening. Supposed to rain later, then turn to snow, then get colder.
Weather warmed up already since last night, currently -13 C or 9 F with a little breeze on top. Poplar uglies in the reactor. Hopefully I can burn off the uglies and rough wood on the shed floor before deer season so I won't break my neck if/when I get a deer.
20 degrees out, light snow (3 " this morning), Endeavor choolin' at 450 STT, thermo in hall at 71. Life is good.
25 when I got up. My triaxle air system was froze up when I tried to leave this morning. Out come the heat guns. Nothing like working just to goto work. Maple and oak keeping things warm
We let the fire go out last night. Temperature inside this morning was down to 70. Terrible! Stove going nicely now.
Geeeze!! I haven't seen 34"s of snow in my life!!! And that would be counting the times I was skiing or went somewhere that it snowed. I'm not talking snow on the ground just falling snow.
It's 44f here. Loaded the stove this morning with red oak. And it's on a low slow burn. Keeping the bedrooms in the lows 70s and have the stove room (400ish Sq ft) around 79f. Have front room closed off (another 450 sqft) so I'm only heating just over 2000 sqft.
If you want to see deep snow, come on up to MI. I know of many places that receive a bunch. I think somewhere around 325" is the record for a winter's snowfall and that is in the UP.
Thermometer says 42, but it feels a lot colder than that outside. Rain is coming in and there's a good breeze coming out of the north. This is the first day the house has needed heat from the baseboards after about 9AM. The boiler is still yawning wondering when the big show is going to start.
I’ll be burning pretty much around the clock the next couple days. Highs are supposed to be around 40 and lows in the 20’s. That’s crazy down south in November! Got the ash and cherry stocked up on the porch
