Well, you already know how clean the 30 can burn. A few days ago, the deal was still on.......................
It's doing quite well. Temps are warming, so the testing has slowed some..... Small fire early this morning and just started up another. Not that the heat lasted that long....it got up to 56°, so I didn't need any more heat. I'm finding I can usually close the air almost completely at about 4-450°, and get a nice clean burn that doesn't get much hotter unless I want it. Once I get it to that point, the blower gets activated. Seems like the stove takes too long to come to temp from an almost cold start, so I turn it off until the stove gets toasty. If doing a hot reload, the blower stays on. My initial impression that the heat throughout the house remains more even is playing out too.
Let me rephrase; how loud is the blower on the low settings? I have the hair dryer which is low/off/high. The blower you have can be finely tuned.
Ah, I see. Barely noticeable, but I can hear it about 15' away. Mom has the TV on and I can't hear it at all unless there's a lull in the noise. I had it on the very lowest and turned it up a while ago to about 1/4.
Good. Really pushing hard to make this happen. It will be neat to see how the 30 performs in the other two locations.
The Hair dryer is a loud MoFo.... It's in my basement, so it doesn't matter. But the overall output of the AC-30 is about 3 times more than the other on High.
I don't need high. I need the lower speed, but hopefully a lot quieter than the hairdryer. The hairdryer works fine for the den/office, but the living room and kitchen need less noise.
The AC-30 has better output and less noise. For the amount of noise from the Hair dryer on Low, the AC-30 is almost on high. So you'll get better heat output and distribution for the same noise. I got a Hair dryer blower from a very generous member here As I have noted, it's loud, but because I am heating for the basement, it's gonna work just fine. Now if it was in the living area, I would absolutely spend the money on another AC-30. Well worth the extra money for double the output and also the rheostat (variable speed).
I dropped a split on my Rheostat. It's like $33 for another. I was gonna buy one, but a member offered to send me the AC-13 (16). (I made an extension for my rheostat, I added 36", so I didn't have to go behind the stove to turn the blower off when I loaded the stove. I just kept it right under the ash lip on the ground. Made it 2 years like that... So for $30 I could have my AC-30 blower working . If I buy a rheostat, I will return this blower to the original owner.
