Rope, we've seen the northern lights many times but one of my wishes is to see it from your area. It has to be nothing short of awesome. I'll never forget the time we saw the lights cover the entire sky. Only once did we see that. Needless to say, I did not get much sleep that night as I could not pry myself away from it. They were really dancing great!

Methinks many of us will be in the same boat very soon. I see some cold and snow headed our way.

A high of 54 forecast today and a high of 39 tomorrow. Looks like the temperature will be staying low for some time now. But I won't yet put the snow blade on.

We're trying! Actually the weather turning cold will only improve things. But yesterday I got skunked for the first time in a long time.

The closer you get to the artic circle the better they get. Us outdoors types gets to see more nature. No matter how many times you see the lights, they never get old. The family came outside, the wife and I watched for a while. They were bright enough that the snow looked neon green, the kids played outside for a few hours. It was really cool, to have the kids realize what they get to see and come in and talk to mom and I about it.

Really nice day here today. Mid 50's and sunny. Wind is picking up and we're headed for the 30's tonight. Looks like we might get a taste of winter toward the weekend with some snow and temps in the 20's overnight. About time. I'm ready to put some heat load on that boiler and see how it does.

Got snow ..burned some oak slabs 26f and other wet basswood and Elm. I think basswood and Elm wet enough that heat it makes just keeps it burning and that's about it lol.

Light snow overnight with temps right around freezing. From here on out (for awhile) the highs will be in the 20's and lows in the teens. Time to make some hard water and ground.

Those temps would be hard core winter for us...like one of those cold snaps they make a big deal about and talk about for a week prior. And they the day before go on and on about it.

About 35 outside right now. House called for just a touch of heat...baseboards are not cold but wouldn't call them warm. Big cool down still forecast for the weekend.
