Have not used them, try looking for LaQretes or LG pellets. Not sure what's available in your area.

Need to check your area.....big box stores, Agway, Tractor Supply-type stores, hardware, etc, etc. Maybe some of the others in your area can chime in. bogieb
Sounds like going prices for decent pellets are in the $239/ton range. Typical home uses at least 3 tons.

And I agree with the above sentiments on Greene Team....good pellets, over priced at BB stores.

Thanks Schoondog. I purchased an old New Englander 25 PDVE 55SHP 22E. It's old but in great shape.

Welcome zmann96 . I have never burned Green Team but from others' comments on them thru the years, believe they are a bit overpriced. My guess is you are finding them at your local hardware store, and in my experience they are even pricier at those places than at L*wes.

Looks like the nearest TSC is in Tilton. They should be carrying a house brand wite bag with blue lettering that probably has Maine Wood Pellets (MWP) in them. Those are reasonably priced and are a mid-level pellet (around $259/ton). If you can find a 10% off coupon, that makes it even better.

There is also a Home Dep*t in Tilton and they most likely carry Fireside Ultras (FSU's). Those are a decent burning pellet at a reasonable price (although a bit ashy, which may be a consideration for your stove).

If there is an Agway nearby, they most likely carre New England Wood Pellets (NEWPs). They are okay, but in past years were overpriced. My local Agway has lowered the price so they are more in line with my perceived value of them. NEWPs are local pellets made in NH, if that is a consideration for you.

I have found Lignetics at an almost local HW store (for me - I'm not in your area). I haven't burned them in a while, but they are being advertised for $249/ton which is also a good price for the pellet.

Hope this gives you some ideas on where to look.

Ligs were always a good pellet for me, and that price is pretty good for them.

zmann96 , if you can scout around and report back to us on the brands/prices you come across, we can give you some thoughts on the pellets and the prices you find.

Thanks Bogieb. Very helpful. I found out the Green team Platinum are only 8000 btus, have no idea about ash. They are $279 at lowes but I can get 10% 0ff. I'm about 25 minutes fro Tilton, I'll check out those.

GEEZ ... I've been seeing prices around here over $300. we also get ripped off buying propane as well. I was paying $560 - $580 every 3 weeks for propane to heat my 2200 sq ft house. Once I find about 5 that I'm interested I'll post them for everyone's opinion. Thanks for your imput

We used them for a couple seasons. Great heat but a lot of dark ash. Have been using Vermont's the past couple seasons, excellent heat, much less ash.

Greene Team has sweetheart deal going with Lowes. The price is much higher for them than comparable pellets. As others have said, high heat but ashy, but I haven't burned them in a number of years ever since GT added the word Platinum and convinced Lowers they were special and the price went through the roof.

Here's some general info. It's my opinion, but based on fact, so take it for what it's worth. Pellets change from year to year. I used a brand for a couple years, Barefoot I think it was, and the next year they totally sucked. I've moved to a hardwood/softwood blend, reasonably priced, always at least 8000 btus. You can always buy a ton of one, and a ton of another, and mix them. Lessens the chance of getting stuck with two tons of junk!

More good advice until you get comfortable with the products around your area:yes:
The Vermont's and Lacrete's are a safe choice from what I gather from word of mouth, I know I'm missing a few of them as I'm not familiar with the brands from south of the border :salute:

zmann96 - would also keep an eye out for Cubex brand pellets, co-worker who runs 2 Englander 25-PDVs luvs 'em.. Only brand he'll burn in those stoves. .. Might be worth picking up & trying a few bags in your stove.

Here's what they look like: Lauzon Wood Pellets: Products

Another option try and reach out to stove dealers and feed and tack shops, I get my lacrete's at a farm and yard store.
Try different brands as CleanFire suggested. I must have tried at least 6-7 types of pellets and still will give others a shot.
