Folks, some of you may be aware that a great friend of ours here on the forums (and over on OPE) has a daughter who was involved in a logsplitter accident last weekend at a firewood GTG. She ended up losing part of two of her fingers on her dominant hand.

She is in-between jobs right now and we would like to help he family raise some money to defray some medical costs. Any help you can give us would be greatly appreciated! Her name is Shemane, she's a sweet girl and one tough cookie, and her dad Rodney (aka Leadfarmer) I consider a brother. Let's see what we can do to help the family out!

Here is a link to the gofundme page we started up for her.....please, if you can, share this link on your Facebook pages and with your friends!

I'm in Scotty. She's a trooper and too young for stuff like that to be happening.

That day, unfortunately has haunted me this week. As a father of three I felt as though she was one of mine.

I could feel the torment my buddy Rodney was experiencing. We were there to help a family in need and We are now here to help another.

I know the Whitmer family would do anything for anyone in need. Im glad to call them my friends.

It has been haunting my mom also. At 9 years old she was the one that found my pap (her dad) in the forage harvester when he got caught and lost his arm. She couldn't bring herself out of the barn that day because of thinking back. I'm thankful that my sister was there and reacted quickly helping shemane and her and Jason's wife did a great job taking care of the situation.

My heart was literally broken as well. I still can't get the whole situation out of my head......I'm like you, John. I have three kids and Im not so sure I'd have been as composed as she or Rodney were.

One thing is for sure, the way she handled that situation shows the kind of strong will that most people her age are lacking. She was raised by a great family, and I want us to do whatever we can to help them out.

Friends, this is quite humbling to have folks care for one another like this. I certainly am proud of my kids and tried raising them to have respect for others and a good work ethic . True happiness is helping others that are less fortunate and the hope of being with our Creator when our time is up.I guess I forgot to teach my self that it's ok to pick up your kids finger off the ground and just move on. She has been taking this trail better than her dad for sure. I just feel that in some way I left her down, dad always can fix everything. Not this time Honey is the only thing I cant get out of my mind.
Some of the best people I've ever met have had a gun or a chainsaw in their hands. I just thank you guys for your friendship and look forward to the next gtg, until then keep Shemane in your thoughts am prayers.

Scotty Overkill , I'm not on any internet go fund me or anything. If you can PM me a address to you or the family to send a check to, I will. So sorry to hear, so nice of you to bring this up. The nicest thing about this club is the caring we have for each other.

I had to dry my eyes after the above comment, I have 3 children and my oldest girl who is 8 says that all the time. "Mommy, Daddy always fixes everything" and to no be able to fix something for your children is utterly gut wrenching. My thoughts and prayers are with you so much Leadfarmer

We are all family here, first and foremost. That was our vision here from DAY ONE, and we bolster that tenet stronger every year.

I'll get you an address my friend, thank you!
