Saturday worked on some fire pit wood got the splitter out, I split the spruce I had stacked around the fire pit smaller so it burns less smokey. Pallet stacked full of kindling type & couple short rows of 2 to 2-1/2 " splits. got about 1/3 done, Was a nice spring day. Sunny 45°, no bugs & no wind. Nice fire going. Snowing now
Nice stacks, looks like a lot of fire pit wood to me! I like the idea of smaller splits and shoulder wood or softer wood for the fire pit. Looks like you have tons of wood all over your property and I have seen your regular wood stacks in addition to these.
I like your pit! That's a nice place to drink and be social. Then again, I'd probably be burning often if mine looked as good as yours. My property borders a swamp and the Mosquitos are the size of small birds in the spring until the swamp dries I late June. It's hard to enjoy my pit because of them.
Nice pit. I used to think we had to go camping to enjoy an outside fire, but when I picked up a small fire pit, I found I can have a fire home more often and more enjoyable. We we went camping, it was alway in a campground where the spaces are right on top of each other, dogs barking constantly, and people cutting through you spot trying to lessen the distance to the shower house. Home, we are all by ourselves, pease and quite right in my own yard. I don't have a water view here, but also seldom had it in the campground because those sites were often booked so far in advance. Home, I just pick my time when it feels right.
I'm with ya on home fire pits Larry. The rock surround pit here is my 4th. One huge one at the old farm… a smaller one at the house we just sold… and, one up at the cabin. We're going to sell the 2008 pop-up we bought to "live" beside the cabin site, while we built it in 2011. Our own fire pits are perfect for us. No interest at all in being at a campground anymore. Was fun, once in a while, when the kids were little. Almost 30 yrs ago now.

Back feels better today. Did some more re-splitting of the fire pit wood A little at a time. 95% spruce, some birch limbs & uglies. Don't tell Dennis I'm spiting horizontal 45° & sunny. Most of the yard snow melted today
Lookin good on the pit wood Bogy. I want to see them tomatoes you're hiding up there. Last night I started a good fire in the pit and one in the house. By the time I got all my little chores done I sat and watched the fire in the house and let the pit burn out. It was pretty damp outside anyway I just had the firebug.
Cloudy today Might get out & stack some of the pit wood today after the Masters which starts in a few minutes, at 11 AM here
Got out for a bit after supper. Cloudy, 45°. Light enough till 10 PM now. Got most of it re-split, needs stacked. Had a nice fire burning some of the the uglies Even saw a mosquito 9:55 PM pics

40-50mph winds and a bit of rain here all this weekend! Crazy how the weather can be so different in just ~10 miles!
