    A friend of mine had some more wood delivered and sent me this pic. Is it some kind of maple?

    Looks like what I have out in the woodpile to be split, Silver Maple.

    I'd agree and say silver maple as well.

    Maple may very well be right but it also resembles hickory.

    I see what you are seeing, but I don't see any sign of hickory. That appears to be classic silver maple.

    I concur with the silver maple crowd with the pic you have, blacksmith and I took a decent sized one down the other night.

    I just took a look at the date of when I got that silver Maple from the tree service. It was June 14, and I got it all processed by June 25.

    Silver Maple dries so quickly that it's already under 20% after the summer and fall.
